Right. This change happened because of how the demon seed quest worked. When paying with health counted as taking damage it was stupidly easy to complete the quest. Demon seed was banned for awhile as they tried to figure out a balance solution, then it was unbanned once the paying health does not count as taking damage rule change occured. It has been that way ever since.
