An Update on Demon Hunter

What did you all expect?
Of course there would be changes, there’s a darn new class being implemented. Just don’t delete any surplus cards yet, wait for the - ahem - dust to settle and reap it afterwards, fullvalue style.

That’s clearly not enough nerfs. This class should only be playable in wild along with the other OP decks there lol. But seriously though, how on earth did most of the DH cards get past through the playtesting phase?

What playtesting phase? Blizzard haven’t done playtesting in at least 2 years.

There’s a new expansion and I wanted to try stuff out, but you can’t. Because Demon Hunter exists…
Hopefully more nerfs will come…

Good nerfs, I’m pretty happy, tey obviously knew DH was a potential problem and had a nerf patch pre-prepared.

I don’t want to see DH go the way of GalaShaman, overnerfed into irrelevance, so I’m glad they are approaching things caustiously (although actually hitting 4 cards from one class is quite a big deal), lets see what the class is like now before asking for more nerfs.

I find it kind of hilarious that people in this thread are calling for nerfs on cards that literally see no play whatsoever, like Coilfang Warlord and Hulking Overseer.

Played DH all day, I like these nerfs, except 1. Antaen to 6 mana. I think 5 was ok. It feels like the only way to play this card now is if you discount it. In a meta where every turn is a massive swing turn and losing 1 turn early is immediate loss, 6 Mana for a payout on turn 8, which at best is board clear, is too slow. The dorment for 2 turns combined with the “random enemy” spread of the dmg makes the card more balanced. Your handing your opponent the tempo of the game when you drop this turn 5, overall, I think 5 is where the sweet spot for this card is.
As for the 7 drop Priestess, I believe she is also fine as is. I feel like if you change any aspect of that card its unusable. 7 Mana means its pretty late game for this meta. (Turn 5 at best)
Almost every deck has a method to deal with her, from silence to having board control leading upto her being played, to Demon Pact. The random nature of her damage spread makes it nearly worthless if you have more than 4 to 5 hp on board.
Overall, I think you run the risk of making the class worthless if your too heavy handed. It’s speed is what gave it a 70% win rate. Decks that effectively slowed it down were it’s counter. So if you, “Balance” change it into being forced slower, I think its gonna be like mid-range hunter, a decent deck, but will run out of steam and lack a way to compete with decks that either are control, or come online mid to late game, no where near the tier 1 or 2 area. Mage, Paladin, and Druid are going to be taking top seat from DH, by a large margin I would think.

Who releases a game and then nerfs it the next day? Did you even test it???

This could be seen as misleading sales, cus i bought the packs to get my hands on the 5 mana cost Antaen and you changed it the next day. False advertising, your gonna get sued someday for this Blizzard.

So you only bought it so you could get OP cards and easy wins? Most people (with brains) that invest money in the game would want it to be balanced.

Lol… Im ok with balanced and stuff, but my question is: why didnt you put it on 6 mana before release?

Hello there.ive played today 5 games only against DH , won just 1 and the problem is DH has 80% op cards. i even get to a point that i had more minions on board and still lost.actualy i had no fun at all.
Here is the nerf that you should do .
Mana Burn 3 cost insted of 1
Battlefiend 2 cost insted of 1
Consume Magic 3 cost insted of 1
Chaos Strike 3 insted of 2
Furious Felfin 4 mana insted of 2
Kayn Sunfury 6 mana insted of 4
Glaivebound Adept 6 mana insted of 5 or nerf stats from 7/4 to 5/4
Imprisoned Antaen stats from 10/6 to 7/6 also deal 10 dmg split among all enemies minions
Priestess of Fury stats from 6/7 to 6/4
Do this changes and we will have fun again when we play Hearthstone,i even play DH after.
P.S . i hate to play with or against op classes so pls dont copy HotS strategy when a new class come out its not healthy for your players also ist not like you have 70/80 classes in this game to counter new class/hero like in HotS.

If you crafted these in golden day 1 to take advantage of the extremely overpowered state they were in I don’t feel you deserve a refund.

Most of your proposed changes can be debated except for consume magic and mana burn. It’s okay you do not like the otk version, but the otk version is already severely nerfed and delayed. If these changes were put into the game, the deck will only beat mage, because mage is so bad as it is.

I’m starting to think so. Tried it a few times and by turn 8, it was too slow. It is a big commitment to play a 6 mana card that won’t be useful for two turns at least. Another idea is they should have kept the card the same but reduced it to be a 6/6 body, instead of 10/6 maybe.

They needed to slow it down for sure. But I agree if it is too slow, it is useless. The whole premise they sold DH on was it is about this Agrro ‘in your face’ type of class. If it runs out of steam then it becomes no different than Hunter.

Hopefully, it will still be competitive. 50% WR is a hard thing to accomplish though.

We’ll see how it all plays out.

I played a Wild game at Diamond 4 this morning, using Mech Pala. DH had drawn 19 cards by turn 8, when he got lethal. This was after wiping multiple boards and silencing anything larger than a 4/4 I could make. That can’t be healthy in any way shape or form, regardless of whether they ‘got lucky’.

From now on no more END TURN against Demon Hunter. They have to W8 lol

eviltype is clearly a troll my guy, the changes they “proposed” might as well say “delete these cards” accept for the priestess of fury (and that is still probably heavy handed)
i’m not saying these cards shouldn’t be nerfed just that what ever the nerfs are probably shouldnt make the cards total trash
