Yay… Maybe it’s not even the first time I’m getting 100 coins instead of a ‘legendary’ portrait for such a merc with all portraits collected… While for some other legendary ones I’ve still got not a single golden (or diamond) portrait. Incredible ‘luck’ again…
PS Yes, I’m a F2P guy, that’s how I get those portraits from time to time.
The only thing they do with old content is change the rewards so it no longers offers players any benefit outside the mode.

You are hoping they do something for the mode, but the only thing they have done in the last couple years has been to remove most of the reward ladder experience the mode gave. No improvements, adjustments, or drop rate increases. In short I don’t think they are ever going to do anything positive for the mode again.
Even if they were going to do another mode of similar design, they wouldn’t carry anything over since they want to drive sales and that means starting everyone with nothing.

PS In case you were wondering, I’m very well aware of the state of the mode and the related prospects; didn’t I mention Bli$$ard’s incredible and fun implementation of ‘RNG’ (of a ‘gacha’ nature, of course, but that’s obvious enough) in the first post explicitly, which is more or less the subject? Felt like writing down yet another specific example of it, that’s all.
