I have been playing a couple weeks now and am wondering can these builds go to the highest levels of inferno and be effective in challenge dungeons. I am about to cross into I5, but may hit a wall for awhile due to gem power. I have a roiling and BSJ and see several recent videos that indicate echoing shade is a must, but I just don’t see this as what is so impressive (for PVE only). My other gems are berserkers, freedom and devotion, mothers lament, pain clasp, followers burden and bloody reach.
I used to use Echoing Shade for a while but I never saw how it’s supposed to help a summoner build. It periodically spawns clones of you that just use primary attacks which means they contribute very little to the overall damage.
Summoner build is good, but it’s for those who really enjoy the playstyle. Other classes and builds perform better. It feels like the summoner build has been neglected by the developers lately. Now they only focus on PvP builds and Corpse Lance. They should give more attention to summons — a classic playstyle that goes all the way back to Diablo 2. I hope the next Essences bring the summoner build into the meta, at least for PvE
