Proposal: Add a brief invincibility period after respawn
Hello everyone!
I want to bring up an issue that I believe many of us have faced, especially in dungeons. It’s the instant death from a boss or mobs right after respawning, which leaves no time to react. This is very frustrating and takes away from the fun of the game.
Main Idea
I propose implementing a short-term invincibility period (3-5 seconds) for a character after they respawn in a dungeon. This brief window would allow a player to assess the situation, regroup, and avoid another immediate death.
Why this is important
Fairness: It would give players a fair chance to fight back instead of facing inevitable death.
Progress Preservation: It would prevent the frustration of losing progress or experience due to an unavoidable circumstance.
Quality of Life: It would significantly improve the overall game experience, especially during challenging boss fights.
I believe this small but important change would greatly improve the gameplay for all
- This isn’t a technical support issue.
- I literally cannot remember the last time I died in a dungeon unless I was typing in chat so I didn’t avoid something.
- When you die, and you choose to respawn, you can move a short distance away before you become corporeal again so you can be out of range of boss attacks.
With how easy dungeons are, if you’re dying in them when you have sufficient Combat Rating to be there, it’s more likely the issue is a lack of secondary attributes (armour, armour penetration, potency and resistance) and/or not paying attention to mechanics, e.g. plus signs standing next to minus signs, chained people not moving away from each other, not moving away from explosive, and so on.
We don’t need invulnerable heroes.
We need players that don’t make their heroes stand in fires.
Not all players have 10k resonance like you
None of my characters has even 4K resonance and I do remember the las time I died in a dungeon… Once that I mistakenly joined an I8 dungeon party when my CR and secondary stats were way below the recommended for that difficulty. Same as it would likely happen now if I joined an Inferno 9 dungeon party.
Other than that, all of my 5 characters are running Inferno 8 dungeons easily as of now. Some challenge dungeons (depending on the modifiers) can be harder, but I complete them too, without dying most of the times.
So, personally, I don’t see the need for this “invincibility period” after respawn.
We don’t have 10k reso
sure this can be a problem in raids but the source is lack of character strength.
As I mentioned, this can be about your secondary attributes (armour, armour penetration, potency and resistance) not just your Combat Rating…
Anyway…
- My hero currently has 52572 Combat Rating.
- The requirement for Inferno 9 standard dungeons is 52905 Combat Rating.
- This means that my hero is 333 Combat Rating below the requirement for Inferno 9 dungeons.
This week, purely as a test, I set my game difficulty to Inferno 9, went to the entrance of Mad King’s Breech and entered it solo and completed it, without dying. And, before you ask, this was fully solo, as Spectral Allies are not available for Inferno 9, and won’t be until the server becomes Paragon 1100.
So, yes, my hero with roughly 2.7K resonance, and more than 300 CR below requirements, can solo Inferno 9 dungeon content, without dying. As I said, unless it was due to me typing something in chat, I literally cannot remember the last time I died in a dungeon. It’s got to be multiple months ago.
