Need help! Game consumed my 5/5 star gem!

I have already created a ticket and waiting for an answer. Is there a way the support can call me on the phone so that I can much easier explain what happened to my 5/5 star blood floe at almost rank 8? I have put my phone number inside the new ticket. Please call me blizzard, it’s going to determine if I will play or quit the game for good. I bought a new phone so that I can play this game while I am not home. I’ve spent now around 20 000 usd on the game and over 2 years of countless hours. Yesterday I bought many packs from the battlenet shop and I started upgrading my gems. I needed gem power so I extracted 3x 1-star gems at rank 10. Then I clicked to progressively upgrade my 5/5 star blood floe towards rank 8. As I put in the blood floe copy, the gem power was already filled in! Probably taken from the other gems inserted into the blood floe as resonance. I didn’t want to take the gem power from them because if I remove the blood floe during events like wild brawl it becomes dormant. I kept clicking with my phone to find a way to remove the already inserted gem power but nothing would work. Finally I gave up and upgraded the blood floe and thought that I can now add that lost gem power again so I pressed on extract gem power but there was no option of game infusion? So I thought it was a big and I pressed the extract button and it ate my gem! Nobody would on purpose destroy a 5/5 star gem! I am speaking the truth, please check the log on how I was trying to remove that gem power that was autofilled in the progressive upgrade. Now I truly ask of you to fix this.

You know how to add resonance gems, clearly. So you should know how to remove them.

By default, a progressive upgrade will take power from any resonance gems inserted. The way to avoid this is pretty simple: Remove the resonance gems and THEN, do the upgrade. You will of course need to have enough gem power available, but in case you don’t, you can always use the resonance gems as “food” or even better, use Power Extraction on those gems to get the power without losing them.

Now, if you used Power Extraction on your Blood Floe, you should have ended with a number of gem fragments, a dormant Blood Floe and any resonance gems (unchanged) in your inventory. To get it back, you could simply go back to Gem Power Transfer, select your dormant Blood Floe and now you should have the “Power Infusion” button. Just add the number of power fragments required and that should do it.

BTW: I am not support, just a player who has gone through this process with progressive upgrades, resonance gems, etc. so I know how it works. Or how it is supposed to work, a bug causing it to malfunction can never be discarded, in this game.

Maybe I didn’t understand correctly, but you said that you pressed the Extract button and it ate your gem… And using Power Extraction on a gem doesn’t destroy it, it just makes it dormant and removes any resonance gems that were inserted in it.

So, if you are 100% certain that you used Power Extraction, the Blood Floe should be dormant, still in your weapon, in your inventory or in your stash. The resonance gems that were inserted in it should be in your inventory.

As a note, there’s no need to remove the Blood Floe from the item, just the resonance gems from inside the Blood Floe. But if you actually remove the gem from the item, it will automatically remove the resonance gems (these can only be added to gems that are being used in an awakened item), so you’d have it ready for a progressive upgrade that would not take power from any other sources than the ones you decide.

Thought. Do you have a rank 2 blood flow in you didn’t have previously?

By some miracle my blood floe was dormant. Can only be God’s grace…

It’s no miracle. That’s what happens when you use Power Extraction on a legendary gem. You get all of the gem power that had been infused directly in that gem via upgrades and the gem goes dormant, until you re-infuse it with enough power fragments. You may need to re-add the resonance gems, though, if they had been used already as power in a previous upgrade. Another option would be to extract the power from those resonance gems or use them directly as “food”, if you don’t plan on equipping them.

Happy to read that you didn’t lose your gem, congratulations and make sure to learn every aspect about Power Transferring and Progressive Upgrades before trying again.
