Ever since the introduction of Tempests, I’ve experienced the Demon hunter getting weaker and weaker. or rather, other classes getting much stronger.
I watch in dismay at the damage meter in Challenge rifts. I can sustain roughly 1.5 million per second. But if there’s a Tempest or a Monk or a Necro, I see them posting 3-4 million easily with some actually doing 11 million/second.
Battlegrounds? We’re being slaughtered with ease. We can’t even escape anymore with our mobility skills due to all the CC stun locks. That used to be our saving grace. But not anymore. Now icebergs chase us in circles. The only option left is a full retreat. And we sure can’t do damage while we run away. ( Should I rename my character Forrest? ; Run Forrest, Run!)
Even Barbarians are now out-damaging a class that was supposed to be primary damage dealer. This, a class that was supposed to be a tank, now hooks us and we perish.
I think an equitable solution has to be the reinstatement of Strafe’s 0.21 timing. We desperately need to have the 5 shots per second as opposed to the 4 per second we currently have after the nerf to the skill.
Another change that would be welcome would be to remove the immunity that almost every elite and boss now has: Immunity to Knockback.
There aren’t anymore skills left with which we can adequately do damage. Multishot, that’s about it. The rest are weak and ineffective.
A very telling sign is that content providers and streamers haven’t released a new build in nearly a year.
The new Essences? No one uses them because what player or mob is going to stand still for my Rain of Vengeance to pour poison on their heads? None. Maybe if it gave a stun to go with the poison, it might be interesting. But the last two sets of Essences for the DH were poorly thought out/implemented.
