I feel like the dog that is granted for free fits. He’s cute but looks like a dirty stray that was roaming the streets of Kyovashad. Also, Blizzard adding grim dark pets is a certainty.
Because it’s a horror game. It’s what they do! Now… I don’t mind a pet following you around, but let’s be realistic. We’re marching into high intensity battles with demons that want to shred you apart. We don’t bring a young puppy into battle. Give use war dogs, war wolves, war tigers. Adult pets that know how to fight (or at least looks like they can fight).
This whole cute/fluffy crap is just such a turn off and immersion breaker. And yes, we don’t have to use these things! But I have to watch other players run around with the crap.
Disappointing. The Jaguar mount is awesome! That thing looks like it was raised & trained for war and battle. That’s how it’s supposed to be done. At least they got that one right.

I am sure this all they have in this initial rollout. I am sure we will be to get other pets, in different varieties as we did in D3.
I would hope that we’d get the pet in a future version that auto converts normal and blue gear into mats

That seems to be exactly whats happening.
Is it an ARPG? Yeah, pretty much.
Is it a MMORPG? Yeah, somewhat.
Is it like Diablo? Kind of.
Is it like world of warcraft? Sort of.
Is it like Hello Kitty Island Adventure? It could be.
What is this game now?
If you condone adding puppies and kittens to a horror game you can justify anything I suppose.

Dogs and cats have been around through the very darkest moments in human history. Maybe not rampaging hell hoards, but as close as earthly possible.

If my sorceress can run around half naked in fabric “armor” (because she’s protected by her magic so well?) why couldn’t she have a puppy or kitten? Actually she has! In her backpack (Catamount cradle)! I just really wish she could ride into battle on a fancy Andalusian!
I miss the days of Diablo having a Paladin and a Monk as character options… What happened to the days of light fighting the forces of dark?
This is what you get when things go mainstream. They have more resources than ever, but it becomes this endless pandering to maximize profit. The sad reality is, millions of people don’t care and just want to unga bunga in whatever they perceive to be the popular go-to games.

I agree with OP, also the new Mercenaries look terrible. Please Blizzard, change these before release. At least use either character classes you don’t plan on releasing or go back to the D2 style/content you’re aping because it would look better than these new mercenaries.

besides, it’s not about can or can’t; it’s about how. the expansion isn’t out yet. nor is the narratives. we don’t know how the story unfolds and incorporates pets. i personally can’t judge a book by its cover or foresee the future. maybe u can.
