April Fools in July?
This OP is a clear case of someone who is completely talking out of their behind.
“data scientist” is such a watered down job title it doesn’t surprise me
Lets see, I studied it, 6 years in a row, practiced it in the real world. Who are you to dispute me? Anyway, please try. Or forever shut your behind.
you’ve done nothing to signify you’re a data scientist other than telling us so. everything in your post reduces to “you think they don’t have the data to look at XYZ?” my dog could come up with a more interesting and informed take
No Im actually a software engineer who is also a data scientist so…
I love how people TRY to belittle someone who is better than them in every aspect of their little lives.
that’s weird, because I work in the field with the same job title, so I’m well aware at how watered down and meaningless it is to call yourself a “data scientist”. All the while saying nothing other than “trust me bro, they have the data”
you are a petty troll that crawls out of his mum’s basement once a month.
As someone in the field that doesnt mean anything. You can analyze data trends all day, doesnt mean you have business sense or good decision making skills on how to apply those findings. It is similar case in statistics, just because there is correlation doesnt mean there is causation. Not to mention so many people slap data scientist title on like it means something when often it is the same as data analyst or general business analyst.
ok Gob
do you walk around talking about your $3000 suit?
Had a long response typed up but decided to delete it because you are so far up your own butt, nothing I say will change anything. Enjoy your ramblings.
Companies are not immune from making bad choices no matter how much data they have. Saying Blizzards decisions are 100% accurate based on whatever metric you decided to incorporate with that statistic, is simply ignorant.
yeah, but he studied it for SIX years. did you not miss that part?
Then you suck at it. The most important thing today is DATA. ChatGPT and AI is everything. It is ALL data driven. Youre an idiot, point proven.
Welp, that’s already a wrap then.
uses chatGPT once
its all about the data bro
I’m a project manager in data analytics, before that was a business data analyst, and I can tell you, with 100% certainty, you are absolutely incorrect – you are correct about their ability to collect the data, but wildly overestimating the developer’s ability to synthesize the data into coherent changes.
For example:
Developer’s Note: Cooldown Reduction affixes often felt mandatory due to their raw power. We imagine Cooldown Reduction will remain a highly desirable stat, but the penalty for not prioritizing it won’t be as harsh.
If something in a game “feels mandatory” after months of min-maxing, if the desired outcome is to make it feel less mandatory, the solution isn’t making them MORE MANDATORY by reducing their effectiveness, it’s buffing them on individual pieces so you don’t need them on each piece, or globally reducing all cooldowns.
Somehow, from the data they looked at which said “many people are rolling CDR affixes” [correct], they took away “this means it must be strong” [correct], then decided they wanted to make it feel “less mandatory to roll gear with it” [okay], and the solution they came to for this was to… reduce its effectiveness, having the exact opposite effect as now builds that could get by on only 1-2 rolls instead of 3 will need all 3 to compensate, and builds that relied on having all 3 will be abandoned altogether. This did not “make it feel less mandatory,” it made it either more mandatory or useless with no in-between, but their data will reflect that people have abandoned it altogether in favor of completely different builds, and the “lower use rate” reflected in their data will make them believe their “solution” was a logical one that produced the desired outcome instead of the actual solution, which is actually higher rolls on the affix itself (so it’s not “mandatory” as at some point you’ll have so much reduction it’s redundant and don’t need it on more than maybe 1 or 2 pieces), or lowering all global cooldowns to lessen its impact.
Relax everyone, I’m sure based on his wonderful personality displayed in these posts that he is hard at work using his amazing data science skills to generate AI friends and girlfriend with automated responses that he can handle. His chad self was just stopping by this general forum to tell all us plebs about his awesome accomplishments as he is about to win life award. /s
guys he’s a “DaTa ScIentiSt” probably working with excel, a job that a chimp can do.
Welp, thats a wrap then on you.
Ability to collect and “analyze” great amount of data is not the same as ability to make a great game. Far from it.
