Why no Paladin?

pally is problably saved for the next xpac

waves hands wildly Lore reasons11!1!!

Reality:

Blizzard knows that Paladin is hugely popular and is saving it for the Expansion to draw people back and to buy the game. I can almost 100% guarantee you the Class is fully designed and has been but intentionally withheld.

Diablo 4 should have launched with almost double the amount of classes it did. Then again, if we have SO MANY broken mechanics and such poor class balance already, can you imagine those problems doubled? From an asset and testing perspective this plays a big factor.

Lastly, well, it splits your player base and for the start of a game, that means a community highly divided in terms of class representation. Less feedback, less ā€œbondingā€ for players and audience for content creators to start. Blizzard took a minimalist approach to this even so much as making Rogue take place of Amazon and Assassin in one class to consolidate. Paladin would quite easily have been the most popula which would have left some classes far far underplayed (Fat Druid).

I disagree. almost 40 dollars for one single class is outrageous. Not to mention the rest of the stuff coming in the expansion should have just been added to the base game. They made us pay $70 for a literal Beta and now they are already trying to get people to buy into an Expansion with ONE SINGULAR NEW CLASS and mercenaries that should have already been in the game from the start.

Why are you so hurt that people have obvious expectations? The forums and reddit are where you give feedback. Sometimes blizz listens. Sometimes they just make up their own nonsense are we collectively sigh and shrug.

It’s like they could be really really successful if they listened, or they could be mildly successful with a lot of noise if they don’t. :upside_down_face:

They don’t actually listen though. They just like to shove us all here so we talk amongst ourselves. They only care about the opinions of people who make them money, like Investors/Shareholders and people who can bring them revenue like Streamers/Youtubers.

Otherwise they would have known better than to advertise this dog water expansion with bare minimum content for the price of an indie game.

I’m more than happy to skip the entire campaign. It’s pretty bad. Some of the cutscenes are okay, but it’s 5 hours of babysitting otherwise. Ergo, if you play Paladin/Crusader, you’re required to skip the campaign and just slay demons, that’s cool with me.

No one asks how it makes sense to play Spiritdude in context of the campaign though, eh?

because paladin is played out. we have already seen it.

I would prefer a priest or something.

kthxbye… they already got ur money.

/adios…

Please get help. I hope you have a nice day.

why request classes that are from other game versions…
Open your mind and ask for fresh new classes.

well, spiritdude still acted as a wanderer in Sanctuary if play the campaign, so should be no need of sense here i think.

even if later got Xiansai fella got added in also no problem.

all are ā€œwandererā€.

Wow very good analysis! Very interesting take on all this. I still hope for a definite ā€œlightā€ but maybe it is not possible…

The barbarian is in literally every Diablo version - the necromancer has been in other versions too; you do get that right?

Have we also seen the barbarian and necromancer? Wizard? It’s a fantasy game. Paladin is more than appropriate for this genre.

Just use a mace and shield on your Barbarian.

Its just not the same…I don’t want to wear a skirt and bunch of unused weapons dangling on my avatar.

If they surprised us, and added the paladin class as well (with keeping it a tight lipped secret)… they would absolutely win everyone’s hearts and souls. It would be a big win for Blizzard. Total surprise on launch.

Everyone? Most people think the paladin is one of the most boring worst classes. Especially old school d2 players. Since it was the hammerdin patch that killed the actual funnest class diablo has ever had. The bowazon.
Paladin rates right there with necro witch doctor and assassin. Garbage boring classes.

I’d dare say a knight class was in Diablo since the very beginning, the holy warrior came with D2 true, but we did have a knight in D1 (i.e. a warrior who could wear plate armor, and use sword and shield). So, D4 is still missing a fundamental class and will feel incomplete to me until that hole is filled.
