Why did you changed part of the content of your game to be unrewarding + only available to like 5% of the playerbase?

If everyone can achieve it easily, then it isn’t an achievement.

Because their dev team lacks creativity, they believe that difficulty retains players.
It does if only done properly. A turd dressed nicely is still a turd. Game needs an overhaul. And if not, then at least try to make everything more accessible so it incentivizes people to create more characters and try out more builds.

Nothing is stopping you from playing this game. Hell my 7 year old daughter can play this game technically. But if you want to be rewarded, you have to do the challenges. Otherwise they’re all just participation trophies.

The point OP makes, which your reply totally disregards, is in the post title.

Idk I kinda just oneshot almost everything except bosses in T4. I think there needs to be Tier 5 with T4 staying the way it is.

If you want the rewards, put in the time and effort. That 5% is a number pulled out no where.

The rewards are available to everyone, if they put in the work to get there. Some will get it quickly because they have the practice to be able to do it without needing the cushion of tricked out gear.

Some will take longer, they got 3 months to do it.

Except they did. They cleared the pass except the T4 part and left.

Seasonal players as far as I’ve read aren’t interested in long term commitment, they want to jump in, get their stuff, jump out. Making it take longer with them in mind was stupid.

In my book, completing the Seasonal Journey shouldn’t be reserved for players who are good at the game, nor should it be something that requires a massive investment of time.

Not saying that a noob one should be able to jump onto the server and do it in a few hours, but I think a below average player should be able to complete the seasonal journey with about 40 hours per season assuming a 3 month season, and less than that if it’s a shorter season.

I don’t want to be playing Diablo 4 for hours every day of the season. I want to have a break between seasons and to have time to play other games too. If I was playing Diablo 4 every day of a season, I would burn out in two seasons and simply have to stop playing the game.

TLDR: I think a below average skill player should be able to complete the seasonal journey in about 40 hours, and that’s not something we have in season 8.

Seasonal player here. I’m happy with the pace of progression in season 8.

There are builds that fast-track the season and take little-to-no investment, for people who don’t want to spend time playing the game.

You should probably get a new book then. The journey is a field of challenges that get harder and harder as you progress. By your standards we would have the journey finished by killing 2000 demons and be done.

I am in no way a casual and finished the season journey in 4 days, minus some specific activites (got all the rewards).

I will say this - Season 8 is a significant step back in my mind. Some activities are never going to be completed by any casual or semi-casual player at all.

3 Ring Caches 3 Jewelery Caches? Not in a million years will most players be able to aquire the fragments needed to complete this.

Kill Lilith on T4 using Belials powers? I would be surprised if more than 30% of the player based has killed Lilith on T1, let along T4.

Rune drop rates are even worse than last season which was a huge step back from S6. Gem fragment drops are horrible. Mythic drop rates are way worse than s7 or s6. I’ve killed a few hundred T4 bosses at this point and have found a single mythic, and often will go 6-8 kills without even seeing a GA drop.

We are 8 seasons in and Bliz has insisted on sticking to the same formula - make temp powers, forget it all for next season, rinse and repeat. They have not learned any lessons from peers, or even their own games.

Still no loot filter in a game about grinding to find loot. (POE/LE)
No permament activity or power additions (POE)
No customizations beyond masterworking/tempering (Kenai’s Cube, Legendary Gems)
No way to easily trade/sell items - LE might be best at this outside of an actual auction house (no real money auction house please), but even POE’s trade site is years ahead of what Bliz offers us.

There is a reason D3 still has an active player base, there is a reason POE1 has an active player base (and POE2 players are pissed) but D4 Devs have blinders on.

These games are always about the grind and the power fantasy, lean into it Bliz. Don’t be afraid to add more ways for us to be more powerful, add things like the infernal machine, or portal goblins. The stat squish was meaningless so lean into torment levels and don’t be afraid to add more as power levels grow, if the gameplay is fun the grind doesn’t feel like a grind and player retention will longer. As it is, I went from wanting to level every class to t4, trying various builds, experimenting to being pretty much done in a week or 2 max if my friends are still playing and looking forward to going to my next ARPG game in rotation.

I do like the idea of more power… I mean I grew up on Tim “the tool man” Taylor

But I do also appreciate the runes being rarer. Makes them more exciting to find like finding a Ber in D2, my buddy finding his first Bac this season was a huge burst of excitement. Where as in last season, getting runes was like going to the market for donuts.

I don’t think they need to drop like candy, but drop rates are just too low at the moment I believe. Same for gem fragments. Somewhere on the south side of what it was like 2 seasons ago and now, I think they just went too far in nerfing the drops.

While I don’t necessarily agree, I can understand your thoughts on it.

You cannot get all your ashes this season without defeating T4 bosses. As far as I can tell. Duriel using his boss power and andarial hers which both suck.

Where did you get 5% from? Did you just make that up? You know you have plenty of time to get to T4, right?

How is anyone being excluded? Anyone can do it if they want.

Let T4 be T4

The real solution is to make T1-T3 more fun to play

Good point, except… that it’s not. Ashes are 100% movable and cost next to nothing to do so. If you aren’t farming for masterwork materials, move the ashes away from that node, or if you maxed out on season rep, move it from there.

The season is like 2 weeks old. This OP take is so tired.

Or just don’t invest in the ancestral whisper caches. For one thing, they still hardly show up, and also, greater caches are better value anyway.
