Why Did They Move Glyphs To The Pit?

Others have already said what the concensus is. Blizzard only wanted to showcase the Spritborn at the beginning of the season. Preventing other classes progression, or at least subverting other class progression to the point it is not conducive to ordinary play time, is the primary motivation.

I’m fine with them being in the pit. What I don’t like is the fail state. Should have been if you are doing harder pits you get bonus ranks per level up. 10 pits over get+1, 20 pits over +2 ETC. Was no need to add a fail state to it.

Personally, I liked the move and their rational for it did make sense - THe pit is for going fast, while the NMD were constantly being streamlined to make them faster, so why not move the fast activity to the Pit and pump NMD’s full of masterworking materials.

The fail rate, is to encourage gameplay. Get you back into running those pits and to create a bit of friction. System seems to be working pretty well so far. Had a few fails, had a few lucky upgrades, onwards and upwards.

I have 2 glyphs maxed so far on my Barbarian. Its not hard.

They are complaining non stop…They don’t understand D4 is not for hardcore player it for casual player and casual player even playing 3 month into season will not be done with the content…I understand it after prebeta and beta but they don’t understand and will complain until they understand…Iam almost happy that d4 is casual i just play relax and no need to put my busy life on stop for be able to achieve the best in the game.Just stop complaining…My 5 glyph were lv 100 after a week…HO NO i got 5 fail on 500 lv glyphs let complain about this on forum!

It makes more sense the way it is now imo. Pits are (mostly) linear. It’s a straight line of progression to the end so the reward is better suited to glyph xp.

Nightmare dungeons are more open, better for exploring and farming events, chests etc.

Lol that’s the way it works now. If you start it at a higher level it takes 4 clicks to get a glyph to level 15

“I have 2 glyphs maxed so far on my Barbarian. It’s not hard.”

Well as you say it’s not that hard, then why have you maxed only two glyphs? and what level would that be?

Haha! Same thoughts. From character selection to skill and paragon choices, Sanctuary will purely be based on RNG.

Glyph leveling is working like legendary gems in D3 now.
For me it’s totally fine. If you want to push them to 100 you have to play higher pits to do so. Or do you want to push glyphs to 100 with level 50 pits? Makes no sense for me.

And shifting glyph leveling to the pit instead of nmd was the best change they could make, since the pit is WAY more fun for most people than nmd.

They certainly level faster than they did with NMD I will say. I agree limiting it to pits is probably a bad idea, would be nice to have multiple sources to level glyphs.

Only a lie once you get to glyph level 90 and above. Pit levels above 100 do not increase the percentage chance anymore than if you just ran a 100 pit. To have 3 out of 4 fail (with a supposed 70% success chance) trying to go from 97 to 98 after running a 120 pit is ridiculous.

  1. To force you to do pits
  2. To prolong lifespawn of sessons

For every question you have about D4… answer is how it will help them to look good at board meetings.

Just run Pit 100 it is much faster. It will give you the same upgrade chance as 120.

I had 4 (four) consecutive failures to upgrade glyph from 99 to 100 with success chance 70%. It only possible with RNG algorithms of Small Indie Entertainment. Three of my alts from different classes probably will never be able to reach 75 xDD. BTW. People who are going to higher pits to level glyphs are doing it wrong. Starting from Pit100 and up all success chance for 95+ are locked to 70%.

just another noob implementation… they just moved to PIT without even check if all classes would be able to full upgrade the glyphs.

If there’s no Spiritborn to hire, I have no idea how we’re supposed to max glyphs to 100. Every build that can clear Pit 100 now relies on some kind of bug or overly complicated mechanics. Good luck next season!

Actually just run a 99 it will do the same. That is the highest level anyone needs to run for leveling glyphs

Thanks. I didn’t even try that. I assumed 99 would have a lower chance on that last glyph level.

It looks like they just copied legendary gem leveling at greater rift from D3. The difference is that I can level gems for my alts on my main if they’re are in a stash. In D4 all glyphs are soulbound to a character. I doubt my spin to win rogue and fire sorcerer will be able to pass lets say Pit 70-80 even fully geared.
There are two major failures in this xpac.

  • Progress is gated behind paragon and and XP requirements after 250 are simply insane.
  • Glyph leveling is tuned for S+ OP class with pit requirements that makes it impossible for other classes to reach.
