Something about the balled chin man from avengers ruining sockets in gloves for all.
Thanos owns the IP to socketed gloves (as others have implied above) and the gems fall off boots while spurring the horse or in battle.
I think they afraid of adding gem to gloves, shoes will make them easy to drop while running, casting spells, or shooting, …
-.- really…

I started replying a couple times, at first I thought your suggestion silly. After more reflection, fine. I don’t think it would upend things that much in any kind of bad way. I’m fine with gloves and boots not having sockets for reasons of realism and such but it’s fantasy and character building and if they followed your suggestion: shoulder shrug That would be fine.
I appreciate all of the responses, so thank you. As for the discussion about the gems potentially falling off in the heat of battle, running, mounting, etc., wouldn’t the jeweler know better to socket them on the inside of the gloves or boots to minimize contact with external things?
I mean these gems are pretty small to begin with (since they fit on tiny rings and amulets), so size can’t be a reason why they have to be attached on the outside. Also, I would think gems attached to weapons like daggers, swords, mace, etc would have the most likely possibility of dislodging since they take so much more impact in use.
That person was trolling or completely unaware of the world he/she chooses not to live in, reality.
If sports players can wear bling during a proffesional full contact event a person in a virtual video game can mount a horse or swing a weapon.
Like most of this " new " game old mechanics were just cut and pasted w/o ever trying to make anything even slightly original.
