Who's idea was it to make a game that has cooldowns and resource management?

Super fun game play… burn your cooldowns, and empty your mana pool… and then run around doing nothing until they come back… or spam your basic… wheee…

Yeah what a bunch of garbage. You should be able to just log into the game and have the best gear immediately equipped on your character without having to even think.

I am not a fan of the build/spend mechanic in D3 and D4 but at least there are still ways to break out of the system in the classes I have played so far - Druid and Necro.

The CDs annoy me less to be honest so… ./shrug to me on that

Your post doesn’t contribute to the thread… nobody is asking for gear, or anything else… just basic design… cooldowns on skills are not fun. Resource management is not fun… combined, it sucks.

If you’re going to white knight for terrible game design, at least comment on the post.

I do not know about D1 but D2 had cooldowns, D1 had a mana bar. So, Brevik? or one of the other developers during his tenure came up with it.

I did. Your complaint is stupid. It’s like crying about not being able to use a baseball bat while playing soccer.

on d2 no cd and u got mana pots + enough items/runewords to deal with mana

well it’s actually Jay Wilson idea. One of his many sh**y legacies in the game.
Why did they decide to keep it? Who knows lmao.

What skills have cooldown in D2 btw?

Mana bar doesn’t really exist in D2 since runewords due to Insight. You can obviously also just chug potions to “unlock mana” but for anyone who plays post 1.12 (I think?) Insight essentially removed mana concerns.

Are their CDs in D2? Druid, Necro, and Paladin don’t have them and those are the classes I mainly play. I might be missing something though (and CDs don’t bother me a ton so it wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb)

I am sorry. But I stopped reading at this comment. had to hit the bowl and laugh. The thread has peaked here. GG

its more hilarious than that when you realize every ultimate every class has isn’t even being utilized because they suck so bad.

It’s broken at a design level, this game sucks.

Its a turn-based rpg. They wanted to copy BG3, but did a terrible job.

Resource gen and mana cost reduction affixes in D4 also remove mana constraints

You and your two likes fail to realize you don’t decide what others feel is fun. Go tell your mom.

Nothing worthwhile is easy?

Gear up and those things will be less of a nuisance.
You don’t like cd’s then get cdr on gear. Want more resource? Get resource reduction on gear.

They will not be removing cd or resource spending.

Idk played a lot D2, never knew that any skills have any cooldown. LMAO.
D3 fanboys never cease to amaze with their information

That doesn’t really make any sense. If you have a resource management system, you don’t really need a cooldown system ontop of that, unless you have enough skill slots that by time the player rotates back to a skill it’s off cooldown. Which Diablo 4 does not have, in case you weren’t sure what I was getting at.

Exactly. One or the other… but stacking both just needlessly complicates the game and distracts from the feeling of fun. Like they intentionally added in more mechanisms to slow the player down.

Also, due to the lack of skill slots, some builds can’t even use a mana generating basic skill… such terrible design.

Don’t you love this mechanic when it comes to fighting these crap bosses that are just damage soaks, so your abilities do no damage then you’re waiting an hour for them to come back, till then you have the super low-level ability they force you to keep the whole game to fall back on.
Truely well thought out this one.

Both are fun. The game wouldn’t work without resources and cooldowns. Go play another game if you don’t like how this one works.
