Who thought the "butcher" was a good idea?

Like seriously who at Blizzard, who obviously doesn’t play any games, thought it would be a great idea to have random janky interlude during a dungeon while we are trying to do “efficiency” dungeon farm dealing with this glacial XP growth.

First off it’s not even the “butcher”. It has zero relationship to the actual game series called Diablo. There’s no lore or plot that would even have them being in “Diablo 4”.

Secondly, it’s not the “butcher”. Doesn’t have the butcher’s fighting style or moves even. It doesn’t look like the butcher. They even piled on toxic amounts of CC. The butcher has shields like LMAO.

It’s like nothing more than a zero effort marketing tie in they had every gaming “journalist” playing PR rep during the “open beta”.

And of course drops nothing after your mandatory time gate during a dungeon. Oh wait I forgot, you might get a single lego that’s “sacred” to be a downgrade from even 10+ levels old gear.

Is there no way to disable this negative gaming experience that has zero to do with the game or any previous title in the series.

These people do not play games. Nor do they have even a semi coherent world craft. Why not have crossovers from other media at this point? Random dungeon fights against Shrek or Mickey mouse would make the same amount of sense.

Butcher was a great idea to mix it up. Hope they add more mini bosses to dungeons later.

There’s only a handful of you people who have a problem with The Butcher. He’s not this invincible being that forces you to leave the dungeon if he spawns in it. Get good.

They are adding campaign bosses to dungeons I don’t know if it’ll be at the end or mini bosses like Butcher.

There is no lore or plot to the Butcher - Originally (D1) it was believed to be something “special” (think Andariel-esque). In the lore it is explained as just being another demon - a terrifying demon that is an amolgamation of sewn together parts from, presumably, other demons.

Every iteration has added to the Butcher’s design. D1 it was just a pure damage thing with laughable speed, D2 was it fire…? D2 butcher is probably the least rememberable in terms of difficulty. D3 it was a boss instead of a random dungeon dweller like D1 and D2 with some basic CC and charges. In D4 it is a CC machine but back to being a random dungeon encounter.

Well… Butcher does have a lot to do with the entire series - it is essentially like the Cow Level at this point in time. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I even think when they did HotS for Diablo the Butcher was part of the original roll-out.

This is HILARIOUS. The Butcher is older than you are.

The first time I saw encountered him was around level 20 I think maybe lower. He scared the crap out of me and got my butt whooped. Loved everything about the experience.

I’d recommend instead of rage posting on the forums after you were just killed by The Butcher, you would instead invest that time into learning why you died and how you can close the skill gap issue to prevent that from happening in the future. I got my Tempest Roar unique helm as a drop from The Butcher and don’t need ppl like you trying to nerf the game even more. Good luck.

I do! I like the challenge

Wasn’t “The Smith” essentially considered The Butcher in D2? I always had and so had others I talk with but I might be wrong - I thought it was done that way once, supposedly, the Horadrim learned that “Butchers” were a type of demon and not something unique

Edit: Read back a few wikis… apparently not in the “same class of demons” so I do stand corrected on D2 having a Butcher. Always thought of the Smith as the Butcher, hehe

Is this trolling? Or maybe you haven’t faced and killed many Butcher’s with zero reward.

It’s seriously not fun. That’s the flipping point. It’s not a “mini boss” if it’s a CC slog fest that takes longer than an entire dungeon+dungeon boss.

Have you actually played and beat the butcher? There’s no XP bonus and the loot drop is less than a basic mob would drop. Doing this more than once or twice or…a dozen times is not fun.

The “butcher” is tbh pretty easy. Just a time gate.

Are you over 12?

While I dont know who at Blizzard thought it was a good idea, it truly was a good idea.
We just need more than Butcher, so it is a bit more diverse.

Not just for the fun of fighting these bosses, but the dungeons should have more distractions, more challenges, more rewards, more sidecontent…

Trolling? You said The Butcher had nothing to do with the Diablo series. All I did was send you a video of literally The Butcher from Diablo 1 back in 1996. You don’t even know what trolling is. As far as “killing butchers with zero reward”, no I haven’t because he has a 100% chance to drop a legendary.

Do you even play the game?

Again, a skill issue.

LMAO I beat the game :joy: do you even have this game?

Go find some friends you’re obviously a troll

If it takes you longer to kill a mini boss like The Butcher than to clear an entire dungeon and its boss like you just stated, then it doesn’t seem like you have even played the end game lol.
