What will happen to existing uniques when nearly all uniques get reworked in season 5?

All your current uniques that get changed will become useless legacy items.

This is because uniques are seen as weak. Weak items will get buffed. Your old uniques will not get these buffs unless it only has to do with main ability and not affixes.

Example:

Unique A before changes
Affix 1
Affix 2
Affix 3
Affix 4
Main ability - Do X while your character does Y.

Unique A After changes
Affix 1
Affix 2
Changed affix 3
Affix 4
Affix 5
Main ability - Do X while your character does Z.

Legacy Unique A
Affix 1
Affix 2
Affix 3
Affix 4
Main ability - Do X while your character does Z.

This is how its already happened in the past and how we got useless legacies already.

This will more than likely be the case, as it would take substantial effort beyond the means of the current Devs to achieve a satisfactory outcome.

Obviously people care, or the post would not be here. Funny how that works, eh? There are people who’s main, story driven characters, are their eternal realm characters. You know, the RPG element of ARPG. It is in fact a thing. I spent weeks grinding mats and bosses for specific uniques on my throw away season characters to bring back to my story characters. after spending that time, and the money on this season, I have a right to express my concern over my financial and time investment into this game.

Same for me.
Most seasonal chars are only a courier for my eternal main.

I rly hope they will be updated and not tagged legacy because we already needed to regrind every uber unique in this season and season 6 expansion launch will make them useless too, would be nice if we don’t need to do this every single time they change their mind lol…

My guess is that the current Uniques and Ubers will just remain unchanged. They will keep their affixes, remain “masterworkable”. No need to tag them. They will just have affixes and stats not as good as the new ones. You will start using them at first but will want to replace them.

OK…Maybe the season update will fix one or two affixes on existing Uniques if they were too good, as usual.

Yet when the update happens and you realize you were stressing over nothing like you probably always do, you will look like a fool.

If you don’t have anything else going on in your life where this is one of your stresses, maybe find a new hobby

Oh man, would I love to look like a fool tomorrow.
I would even have to do a dance of joy for you all, if my eight 4ga uniques get updated properly.

It would be extremely disrespectful to buff these uber uniques and make players farm for them again by keeping the ones theyve found unbuffed in eternal.

You’re trolling. Does it make you feel superior to assume and exaggerate the overall impact this has on my life? You’re obviously not impacted by what happens to these items but yet your here in these posts? Do you not have anything else going on in your life that you must stoop so low as to troll people regarding things that do not impact you?

No unique item I can recall had its affixes update when changed. The main ability changes but the affixes dont which means every single legacy unique item is worthless because the new uniques are better.

I repeat this is what happens:

Reaponse from devs on stream:

Bottom power will update on existing uniques to new version, but the stat lines will stay the same. This is due to how the game handles things.

You’ll need to refarm for a fully updated unique.
