What on earth is the point of season mechanic?

Give monsters thorns, eliminate item repair, get rid of fast travel.

worst ideas ever.

back when i use to play the game runescape, you had to run to all the locations, while doing this and also skilling like fishing/woodcutting u would talk to people and make friends it was very social, once they introduced fast travel, nobody ran the map anymore, socializing stopped and the game felt bad. Why u do want fast travel removed?
I always thought mounts were a bad idea for the game, i try not to use mounts i prefer to run through zones to get to my location

That is exactly why I want it removed, but it wasn’t my suggestion for the game in general. It would be too jarring a change for the player base and an affront to the traditions of the game. It’s my suggestion for repairing this season, and yes it should be optional. A mutator, if you like that word.

What it would do is make progress difficult and requiring teamwork. It would, I dare say, make Diablo frightening again. Does no one else remember being terrified in the Halls of the Dead? The Catacombs when you could hear those awful demons snorting behind the walls but could not see them?

There is no need to nuke the current game. At least I hope not because personally I like this season just fine. But if you want more challenge, less repetition, and to not feel like you beat the game after a few days, there’s your solution. Travel cautiously, watch each other’s back, fear every bad decision, cherish every drop and make do with what you have, hope to somehow see another day. We can have all this simply by shutting off portals, giving monsters some of the same stuff we get to have, and sending the blacksmith on vacation.

LOL That will never happen in D4! Can you imagine the utter outcry?!?
Even the minor nuisance of the reflecting barrier got heavily nerfed.

Look at threads that are up - “Make Andariel one-shottable because I want to kill in 5 seconds instead of 30”.

Even Infernal Hordes were a mode requested by players - “I just want to be dropped in a small room with endlessly spawning monsters”.

Any semblance of challenge in D4 is long, long gone. That ship has sailed.

You are trying to make me sad and I’m not going to let you.

I know deep down inside that someday From Software is going to buy the rights to Torchlight.

Why? They have Witcher and could develop an isometric ARPG if they wished.

Speaking of sky…the funniest thing I saw was how enemies were literally dropping in from the sky

You could come back to reality and accomplish something in real world since there seems to be no point to continue in the fantasy world.

I see your point but recommend that you stop playing S tier classes. I am playing a B tier DOK rogue and love it.
Now, I do think Blizzard needs to add more torments to the game up to 10 or something as follows:
1.) Add more torments according to PIT level difficulty i.e. torment 5: 80 pit level difficulty / torment 6: 95 / torment 7: 110 / torment 8: 125 / torment 9: 140 difficulty and so on. ( this would make zones more meaningful rather than just one shotting everything once you make torment 4.
2.) leaderboards makes everything fun, not doing this is just laziness on Blizzard’s part.
3.) death log so the community grows together, this works great on WOW classic HC
4.) SSF till level 60 to prevent trade and power levelling

Like what ? Im really curious.

Yeah the open world stuff in the new zone for ex. They have really dialed it up a notch. Big diff from T1 to T4

Well the same can be said to other stuff like bosses drop more uniqs on T4. But thats not what im talking about. Im talking about changes mechanic wise like monster behaviour , elite modifiers , more NMD modifiers , bosses with skills that are T4 only , T4 only elites , T4 only hard dungeons , T4 only pinacle bosses and so on.

well, right now the only reason to grind gear for endgame is to kill higher pit levels, there is nothing else to the game I think

Uhm. Legendary gems are pretty easy to get. Unless you mismanaged something, by doing Witchtides, you get plenty of mats and you get to craft them easy peasy. I got three of them already. Maybe do Hordes to get gems fragments or something as it’s probably the only thing that limited me at one point.

But yes, this is the core of the game : Get new stuff to kill mobs faster to get new stuff to attempt “challenging content” (which is pretty much damage sponge content, not really difficult per se).

As far as difficulty goes : Despite the witch powers, many non meta skills/builds will start slowing down at Pit 65/70 without mythics and 2GA items and will probably hit a wall at Pit 75/80 without said mythics. I think this is the “difficulty” we’re supposed to feel, with Pit 100 being what is achievable with a lot of work by non meta skills/builds, and meta skills destroying Pit 100 without sweating and with subpar gear.

Anyone playing the meta skills, whether they’re following a guide or not, will end up having an easier time due to how extremely powerful they are compared to the rest. It’s pretty much like S6 when the Spiritborn could reach Pit 90 with no mythic, no Quill Volley and no “bug/viscous shield” abuse, while a lot of other classes (most skills at least) couldn’t even reach Pit 90 unless they were fully geared.

By not caring about balance, Blizzard let clearly overpowered skills run rampant for a full season (even when issues did arise during PTR). At the same time, some players want to use these powerful skills (even if it’s by copying a build), but they shouldn’t be surprised that they obliterate the content pretty fast and get bored quickly. This is what we have to expect from D4 from now on.

Edit : Typos.

Yeah well sounds like you want someone to sell you on the game at higher levels. Not gonna even try, you either like it or you don’t. These games are always about going as high as you can perfecting your char along the way. If that doesn’t appeal to you you’re prolly playing the wrong genre

And what you do whn you perfected your gear? I get what you are saying and yes thats one of the core parts of Arpg’s but thr road till you get there is lacking and there is nothing to test your well geared character against.

Can’t argue that point - the pit is it right now. I guess leaderboards will come in the future but they don’t really matter to me anyway

The Pit could have been if it wasnt a timed dungeon , or the NMD’s but they left it to rot.

NMD’s are more useful this season. They are good for obducite once you have the boost from the season pass. They also are where you get your missing witchcraft powers. The pit is just greater rifts from D3 which are also timed
