The seasonal mechanics actually don’t interest me at all. They never really have. Once or twice I fooled myself into thinking they might be interesting before the season started, but I was very quickly cured of that misconception. I use seasons as a way to get some cosmetic stuff that, while not that good, is actually reasonably priced by comparison to the insane prices in the shop. I also use them to try new builds or return to builds or classes I haven’t touched in a long time. It’s a glorified excuse for a reset. If the game actually had deep progression and cosmetic goodies to pursue that were tied to real achievement in some way, I’d be more interested in that. That’s why I only ever play for about 2-4 weeks each season until I get my character maxed out and finish the battlepass and journey. Once that’s done, I’m done.
P.S., I wish it weren’t like this, but they don’t know how to design a game for the long-haul with meaningful depth, or if they do, they haven’t demonstrated it as of yet. We’ll see what happens in S9 and beyond I guess.
