What is the appeal of starting over each new season?

Thank you all for responding to my thread.

We are a husband and wife team, so I play this game with my husband. My husband is a little more familiar with Diablo games and he started playing this game a month earlier than me on Eternal server on his Druid.

I was not interested at first, but a few weeks after s1 started I saw a streamer playing a Twisting Blades rogue and it got my attention. The playstyle of the class reminded me a bit like Warrior in Tera Online (which I played) and also with my husbands influence I started playing in season 1. My husband has also a Necromancer hence why I am also playing that class.

Anyways, my point is I am glad that people seem to enjoy and look forward to even, to start over every season for their personal reasons. I kind of understand this part for those people however from my own standpoint, for someone who only likes 3 classes and limited branches of each of those classes, it’s hard for me to imagine myself not to lose interest.

My husband (and I too) is actually very happy that we have a game once again that we play together with (FFXIV is not his thing) so both for him and myself I’m trying hard to justify myself to keep playing in seasons.
(He would understand if I no longer have interest ofcourse but he would also like it if I stayed I mean).

The problem is, I am used to playing on my well established characters in other games. Love hunting/getting BiS gear and see the big dps numbers whenever I attack a monster/boss. Because for me, a class is fun when it has all its potential unlocked, be it via max level and bis gear and in this game also through aspects.

I see leveling process as tedious, for me that part of any game is not very enjoyable, sure there are some fun parts but it can’t be compared to a max level character, especially if I really like the playstyle. I get great enjoyment from seeing what the class has to offer at max, otherwise I wouldn’t level it that far.

So these are all the reasons why I am trying to understand what the appeal is for starting over.
