I generally agree with the changes blizz is making. I just don’t agree with the implementation that impacts players that have been grinding the last few months. We’ve already had multiple rounds of all items being turned into junk. I think blizz has an opportunity to say, “Thanks for sticking it out with us and we are going to make sure your items that you grinded for in season 5 are going to maintain their power level.”
I understand that expacs = additional difficulty levels and more powerful items. But that’s usually implemented with the addition of new items. As mentioned in my previous post, if blizz turns all items into 540 or worse, they are effectively deleting all your items or at best giving you a 1 or 2-day head start in eternal realm over someone who picks up the game on Oct 8. Usually an expac will introduce additional build variety and a few items that are just straight-up better than your previous gear. But, to render all previous items junk and reset the item chase on those very same items for all players is unheard of for an ARPG and it certainly isn’t in the spirit of the promise that blizz made with their player base when they created something like an eternal realm.
Seasons are for resets, eternal realm is for accruing power over time and creating new builds that require elite gear, and our season 5 GA 925 gear should become eternal realm GA 800 gear. A fun aspect of the game is the long item hunt and constantly turning our items into junk kills that. What happens with the next big patch or expac? Will all or some of our items be turned to junk again? Blizz has an opportunity right now to set a standard that your “forever items” will actually remain as forever items
