This season I have played for about 120 hours and reached paragon 280 - that puts me at the top end of causal I suppose and probably means I’m an average player - and, I think, representative of the majority of the player base.
Having gone into the tower this morning I completed a lvl 113 which isn’t anything special I know. However when i go onto the leader boards I can’t find my rank anywhere. This tells me something important - that this game isn’t being developed with players like me in mind.
why would I push myself, commit more time to an unrewarding loot treadmill to try and improve when I can’t see where I am on the leader board. I’m not saying the game needs to display more then the top 1000, but everyone who competes needs to get a ranking - otherwise what is the point.
Maybe they don’t want to show really low rankings because that might reveal an approximation of total numer of players participating. If so, then at least give a percentage, like “you’ve done better than x% of participants”.
That you can get a top spot on the leaderboard if you have the time and energy to farm for days? I’m chasing that dragon with my sorc but everyone is using the exact same build so in the end it’s a matter of gear drops and getting the correct sanctifications. Time and luck with very little skill involved. It’s a shame but that’s where we’re at.
Edit: My current toon is around paragon 271 with moderate to low stat gear but I’m doing tower 105 with plenty of time left. I’ve devoted around 160-170 hours to this sorc and looking forward to see what she can do once I’m to 300. Glyphs all at 100. Time and luck so far, lots of farming
Completely agree, everyone needs to get a ranking of some sort.
Did you try filtering just for your own platform? You might find you rank on your own platform.
Yes this thought had occurred to me also and I mentioned it elsewhere. Personally I don’t see why they shouldn’t just bite the bullet and let us have that info. It’s still limited to telling us a minimum number of players who engaged with the Tower.
The fact there were multiple thousands of players ranking within hours of Tower launch (my guesstimate is at least 10k) suggests they don’t have anything horribly negative to hide.
But yeah, if this is their concern they could just bracket it by %. Or they could give messages:
“Well done you are now in the top 100k!” (Probably everyone will get this)
“You are now in the top 10k!” (probably not everyone)
“Top 15k!”
Etc.
This way we have some idea and can tell if we are making progress without them revealing how many participants there are. Even if only 3k are participating, you are still in the top 100k.
I guess if we clear Tier 10 and it immediately says top 5k, we could have a pretty good idea there aren’t much more than 5k participants.
Either way, something should be done for those not in the top 1k yet.
