I get that it’s a beta game, but at the same time, he makes a good point. This game has been how many years in the making? This ain’t no small indie company. Also, the alpha version of the game was nowhere near that unstable. It’s frustrating to constantly get disconnected every 10-15 minutes, from now fault of our own, just to be thrown back into a 2 hours+ queue, while everyone else either waits on you or just leave you behind.
Hahaha people are still complaining in here, gotta love people who pay money for something that Blizzard doesn’t guarantee.
Early access is just a perk for me as I paid the money specifically for the game, accelerated battle pass and cosmetics, because those are guaranteed.
I would be happy to get 10-15 mins at a time. I am not on a cheap rig so this is entirely server related. Meanwhile I am watching streamers stay connected for hours. Shameful.
You understand what a Beta is right? This is the best game they’ve put out so far. They offer rewards for preordering. They posted multiple times that there may be connectivity and graphics issues. Just because the world isn’t perfect because mommy said it would be, doesn’t mean it is Blizzard’s fault. Please ask for a refund. I hope to not see you at all unless it’s in the PvP Battlegrounds. Dueces.
You must be one of the lucky ones who are not experiencing issues. It’s easy to judge people who are anticipating being able to play, understanding full well that it’s not guaranteed that everything would work correctly, but still bummed out that they can’t, due to some unexplained issues. It’s not like Blizzard announced this open beta at the last minute. They also had the numbers of customers that pre-purchased the game and had to assume that they would be interested in playing the open beta. They could have been more prepared, imho.
see, here is your problem …
First of all, its not beta, its ALPHA. And this is just ALPHA DEMO you have to pay for.
Beta officially starts 6.6. … if you realized what state the game is in and how blizzard is treating it, you would know.
Also …
Diablo 3 … same issue, server issues.
D2R … same issue, server issues.
But I guess you are right … these games are still in BETA, not a full game.
Grow up man.
This is the state they meant to release it in for the “Alpha” which they are calling Beta. They literally have Report A Bug buttons everywhere. It is what it is, I think people’s expectations are high as what the last dude said. Almost every game that has come out had issues. God remember WoW… sheesh.
The Saturn V rocket can’t be rebuilt and NASA is still around. Just because the company or organization is around doesn’t mean the people or the knowledge is still there. A lot of movement has happened in the tech world especially in the last three years. Diablo III was released 11 years ago. It is reasonable to say a lot of those people aren’t at Blizzard anymore. On average people move on from jobs in like 4 years. Ask any admin or developer what it is like to come into a new job, the documentation is always poor and finding things is a pain. So, yeah things are not going to be smooth. Blizzard does release and maintain other games and those teams probably do help mentor if they can, but odds are they are separate teams with their own problems to sort out.
A company that has never done something like this before like wouldn’t have the player base Diablo has. The player base Diablo brings to the table is MASSIVE and that makes this a difficult IT challenge to say the least. On top of that I bet they are using newer technology for distributed services and more of a cloud native approach than previous Diablo games have which is relatively new to the industry for use with production. Figuring out how to scale that properly takes some load testing which requires players to put actual load on the system. I’m not surprised this first beta has gone this way. The open beta is when I expect for them to have many of their lessons learned and figured out.
I have been disconnected multiple times and I’ve had to sit in queue for 3 hours at this point, give or take. I’ve been through enough beta tests to know exactly how they go, so that means I plan ahead. There’s only so much you can guarantee when they, well, can’t guarantee anything because technology is a thing.
They guarantee this:
**Up to 4 days based on estimated access; actual play time subject to possible outages and applicable time zone differences.
*Actual platform availability and launch date(s) of the Beta subject to change. See diablo(website) for more details. Minimum Open Beta duration is 2 days. Limited time only. Internet connection required.
Is it a bummer? Yes. Is this day one of the preorder beta? Yes. Are there more days? Yes.
This ALSO carries over to the next beta, so if there are server issues for the masses every single day of that beta except for one, I would be demanding a refund because that was guaranteed.
Someone pin this please.
You paid $100 for a game that hasn’t been released, and you didn’t have to spend that. You had the option to buy the standard game, or not spend money at all, and wait. They don’t owe you anything, come back on 6/6 and complain, I’m sure you all will.
It’s an early access beta that is intended to be a stress test on the servers.
If u think that the game would be working perfectly for being the first weekend, much less the first day that they’ve opened it up beyond a select few closed beta testers, that’s on u.
To be fair, Blizz has their own servers which are constantly recycled and used for multiple IP’s. They could go Pay Per Month and rent amazon cloud services, and this issue would be non-existant… but f that noise. I wouldn’t wanna trust Amazon with my millions+ dollar IP anyways.
This is a Beta TEST. It’s not a demo, if it doesn’t work, that’s the point. They need to test systems, servers, everything. So when it doesn’t work, they are learning and preventing future issues.
This thread is disgusting, these people work so hard to create an entire world on your PC, and all you do is whine and complain when the TEST doesn’t do exactly what you want it to. Shame on all of you.
They don’t have all the classes available, the game is not even feature complete. It is pretty clear the game is very incomplete right now by time character creation is done.
These days alpha and beta more or less mean the same thing, incomplete game. I am surprised that people still haven’t caught on. Early access is the new buzz word for what beta used to imply. It is cleaver marketing to get people to buy into the actual beta because they call it early access which sound more put together than beta when it is still a incomplete game that needs polishing before full release making early access the traditional beta people here are expecting to see.
Better than being a “backer” for these terrible indie games or small studios where you have to dump even more money in for a pity case game that is trying to get off the ground.
Such whine, no cheese.
Beta isnt release. If you paid $100 expecting two weekends of full game play months before release, i have a bridge to sell you.
The people sitting here whininf are the same people who complain the game isnt perfect and whine when they reset characters.
Lets be honest, you wouldve bought the game for $100 now or in june.
Cant wait to see the sky fall at release when nobody can log in. At least then its an unacceptable issue.
what have you not learned from any other beta/main game launch whether its WoW, Diablo or Overwatch??? ITS NEVER SMOOTH THE FIRST DAY… jeez you’d think this was blizz’s first rodeo. Rookie…
no. my genshin impact never disconnect. D3 sometime disconnect.
other games never disconnect.
so…still my connection issue ?
There are indie games out there released in much better beta state, there are even FREE games that release in much better beta state. The free open beta is next week, and paid one is this week. If the paid one comes before the open one, you cannot deny that the “intention” or the direction Blizzard is trying to steer your mind is that, YOU PAY TO ENJOY EARLIER. Why not try to market it as “pay to SUFFER earlier” next game, see how many people is buying it pre-order.
