Werewolf POWER! Or not

I was very happy with all the buffs given to the werewolf, my first and almost only class in Diablo 4. The werewolf Poison/Crit Lupine build took two days to perfect with the new aspects, items, and everything. It was good, hard because squishy, but good and I was really happy. Then, I played with a barbarian friend who was just testing a build. Now, I feel sad. I realize this class will never be as good as the others.

Depends what build exactly : Not every skill/aspect/paragon combitation will work past Torment 4 (Pit 65+). Also, if your Barbarian friend was using one of the busted skills (e.g. Earthquake/HoTA), it’s normal to see your damage be relegated to a NPC status as there are currently 3 or 4 skills that hit for something like 100x more than the rest.

I, for one, tried a build that looked strong enough on paper and worked well enough. It was not OP (as in, it couldn’t delete a T3 boss in a group as soon as it spawned), but it had a strong potential… and it worked well in T4, until I had every aspect and Temper completed and ready for the Dire Wolf Aspect and perma Grizzly Rage and low cooldown. This is when I started seeing how my damage ticks were lower the longer I was in Grizzle Rage.

As such, it works very well for the first 10 seconds after you change form…but then you lose the 75% damage multiplier, even if you’re still stuck in Grizzly Rage for another 10-20 seconds. It’s not written on the tooltip that the damage increase only last for 10 seconds regardless of the overall duration: In fact, it’s written that you receive a 60% [ x ] damage increase, plus 3% [ x ] per second while you’re in Grizzle Rage up to 75% [ x ] total. As such, it’s pretty much a 75% damage increase after 5 seconds in Grizzle Rage, and should stay that way until you lose Grizzle Rage.

It doesn’t. The 75% damage increase only lasts for the original duration of the skill, and doesn’t follow when you add duration through kills or overpowers. As it is right now, it’s a very bad skill and a waste of Aspects, due to Blizzard ineptitude towards finding and correcting bugs.

Werewolf got some love (see Lacerate / critical build), but for me, many potential poison builds will fall short due to Dire Wolf/Grizzle Rage being a bugged mess.

The legendary occult gem Voice of the Stars stops working after 10 secs as well. Not ideal.

Just saw your answer, sorry to be late. don’t have any notif. Grizzly Rage is kinda good yeah, but not enough. Im currently playing lvl80 Pit. I can do it but its hard. And cant go upper as werewolf Crit/pois. Im pixel on everywhere, and i repeat its hard, cause i’m squishy. And maybe u gonna say, WOW, pit 80 is awesome. No it’s not. With all hours i put on this build, this is sad. Forgive my english

Pit 80 would be awesome if most builds only stopped at 80-85. It’s decent though, and it’s clearly not related to your skill level : It’s due to Blizzard poor balancing and bugs that bring the overall power level of that build down.

On my end, I stopped at Pit 75 with my Werewolf/poison Grizzly Rage build, but that was my first character this season, when I was Paragon 150 or so, with no legendary runes, no legendary gems, non maxed witch powers and no mythics. I’m pretty sure I would go over 85 with all that now, but I don’t think it would reach 90, not in its current form. Maybe with perfect masterwork triple crits and with max glyphs.

Sadly, even Pit 85 doesn’t make it incredible when a lot of skills can hit Pit 90-100 with the same time played and gear level, and that obviously some builds meta) manage to go over Pit 110 with very little effort and time.
