Very Frequent Game Crashes

I wanted to post back here today and let folks know that after this latest update I’ve run about 4 hours now with no issues. I didn’t change anything and I’ve been ok so far this morning.
Fingers crossed it sticks!

So not going to get my hopes up just yet, but last night I was able to play about 2 hours without a crash. It was the last update 2.0.3b that may have done the trick. After reverting to 561.09, and still having crashes, I gave up and just went to the most current Nvidia driver, and still had crashes…but then 2.0.3b came along and, it was much more stable for me (again, not getting my hopes up)…now I see 2.0.3c is out…so hopefully it doesn’t just break everything again LOL. But yeah, my issues do not seem to be nvidia driver related…but as you mentioned this is a multi-issue problem, and what works for some doesn’t work for all. Just my report haha.

Edit: Got about an hour in with 2.0.3c before a crash. Hard to say if that means it’s less stable now or not. Seems like a roll of the dice :smiley:

Dude this CRAP is brutal, I cant understand how the servers are this bad. I know its not my internet. I get booted randomly ALL THE TIME NOW! started happening really bad a couple patches ago. FIX THIS CRAP BLIZ!!! OR IM GOING TO A NEW GAME

I can’t understand how they could possibly be that bad either considering they always work great for me. But I get it it’s easy to blame the servers. I’m more apt to say blaming the gaming code than the servers themselves. But that’s me.

yeah i mean im not sure what makes it okay for some and not others but wtf man since a couple patches ago it’s like constant for me. If i had weak or crap internet i would be more likely to believe it was something on my end but it certainly isn’t that.
updated all drivers
updated nvidia drivers
updated ethernet drivers
turned reflex on and off
tried scan and repair several times.

its been since a few patches ago.

I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but seriously. Go back to 561.09. You may need to use DDU to remove the current one properly. If you use that tool, follow the directions on their website correctly for a successful removal.

This has fixed many that have weird problems including even disconnecting issues.

Just rolling it back may not be sufficient. Hence the tool.

Did it. Tried to play 1h today (hell tide) - 2 crashes, first came in 5 minutes of gameplay, next after 18 minutes:

seem to be fixed for me:

  1. installed latest nvidia driver (yep, just for test, but it succeeded)
  2. lowered max fps from 165 to 120
  3. disabled ray-tracing options in game

seem to be stable for 2 hours.

I changed all of my settings to the point my game looked like the original Diablo and nothing improved.
Are these Fenris Debug entries important? The Game clearly struggled to make sense of itself in the small amount of time I tried to play this morning…

And that is what fixed yours apparently. The error is directly related to ray tracing.

I have no idea what that means outside of video playback keyframes that keep the video and audio in sync I think.

But it looks like it just lost connection to the server at the end, and was probably having trouble during your play multiple times generating these errors. I’m assuming you had higher than normal latency.

You can monitor your internet latency in-game. Hit CTRL-R two times. The first time gives you FPS. The second time gives you latency. A third time turns it back off. These show up in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

I wish I could share the screen shot. 81MS consistent, instant disconnect. No lag. Cannot log back in again. Plus my work computer is still running queries and has no latency or connection issues to the same router.

This is not my network.

Round 9 of 10 in hordes. I cannot finish any event.

Yeah thats the exact same symptoms I have, it will go from perfect connection that boom. knocks me off and takes me a few minutes to log back in. It used to happen at the end of NMD’s and Pit levels and now it even happens in town.

These tests can potentially point us into what might be going on.

Its broken, just request a refund.

Since you seem to be asking people to just submit a refund, have you done that? And has that been successful? I’m just curious.

Crashes every 1-5 minutes still happening. Still no support of acknowledgement from Blizzard other than some useless generic solutions page that doesn’t work or directing people to the forums which they continue to ignore.
By the way, asking for a refund to the expansion won’t even be enough since however they broke the code affects the game regardless of the expansion - they’ve retroactively made the entire game unplayable for the lot of us.

unfotunately, not entirely… game is still leaking memory (I think), as it takes 20++ physical and 30++ virtual and … crashing. both 4080 and 3080ti. at least once in couple hours for sure, 4080 is like once in 3 hours, though.

If you haven’t yet, set a 32GB swap file for your system. (32768) set for both Min and Max.

That should correct the issue. The usage WILL flatten out. I’m running that value on mine at the moment and its been fine for hours at a time.

Make sure you are not running web browsers while playing though, those also eat up virtual memory.

Hopefully at some point they will address the large amount of virtual memory usage… Kinda annoying.
