Vendor screen interaction

i noticed that when i interact with a vendor that has an animated portrait, my graphics card temperature immediately ramps up and the fan goes full speed. it seems like the game keeps frame generation running indefinitely, hogging all GPU resources.

i monitored this using MSI Afterburner with the OSD stats on. in Kyovashad & Helltide fighting, the temperature stays around 50°c, but when i open a vendor (with animation), it shoots up to over 70°c.

as far as i remember, in seasons 6, 7, and 8, i didn’t notice this issue, but in seasons 9, 10, and now the s11 ptr, the issue has come back.

have you all experienced the same?

What is your background fps set to?

Try setting that to 8 and see if it stil happens.

60 and 8, 4k display.
even with all quality settings at the lowest.

i am running 50–60°c during all combat content.

only the vendor screen shoots up over 70°c. hmmm…

Why do folks use fake frame gen.

Native render trumps

Yeah on release this screen had similar issues, and back then capping the bg frames settings to 8 helped a lot in these vendor screens.

I stopped playing this in 4k a while back, I wanted to and kept at it for bit, but then it just made more sense to play in the stable resolution.

Today it runs fine in 4k (not sure for how long) but I just prefer to use 1080p so I don’t need to keep resetting my OBS to 2 dispaly settings.

Do you have Ray Tracing on? I have that off by default for this game.

either fake, AI, or interpolated, the problem wasn’t caused by them. this has been proven by many other AAA games out there.
second point, not all players own top-notch graphics cards that overpowered the game requirements.

I recognize this is the PC forums, but this makes me so happy i play on console.

Don’t have to worry about any of this.

There are other worries instead.

the game seems like there is no way to change resolution once we are in it, right? it just follows the desktop resolution, unless we switch the desktop to 1080 before launching the game.

this game always has a tendency to somehow recompile and bundle previously solved technical problems, making them come back. the source code versioning and branch control seem problematic.
no, i didn’t use ray tracing either.

or it is already happening, and the overheating is reducing your console’s lifespan without you realizing it because the console isn’t placed close enough for you to notice.

It’s been 2.5 years. We cool. :cowboy_hat_face:

Blizzard heard that you like bricking, so now there is a 2% chance your GPU will be bricked when you talk to a vendor.
Good luck.

Always a good idea.

Today this is how it works.

I always change before I start it, but I play OW and Rivals in 1080p also, so I am used to switching back and forth.

I am only in 4k for watching movies/tv or playing single player games.

Im on rtx 3060 @1440p res granted i dont use ultra setting on everything, actually highest settings are only on high some are medium some are off like dlss.

Poor man gaming rig

Ive seen folks with top of the line cards use frame gen when their card is more than capable to native render

this isn’t poor; the 30 series came out around 5 years ago during the pandemic, when import and production limitations caused price hikes and crypto mining activity swept up all the stock in the market, driving prices even higher. acquiring a 3060 back then was a rich man’s move and a lucky deal. LOL.

i tried that and didn’t like how it kept changing my desktop icons’ orientation.
thanks a lot for the input so far.
