Usually how long until sales starts for blizz games?

In the case of the cheap Overwatch key I bought on release day?
They separately sold the pre-order skin code at a later point.
Like 2-3 years later they were selling for over a hundred bucks.

Also this:

It was bundled with a bunch of steam keys, so probably not an offer directly from Blizzard, but from a licensed retailer.

I feel you, but I’ve come to accept it. My guess is a minimum of 1.5 years, possibly upwards of 2 years. And I don’t think you’d see anything like a half-off sale for longer than that.

Blizzard does not sell their games via Steam…

This thread is a bit enlightening. It talks about someone who lost access to a Blizzard game that they were “gifted”. It also notes that many third party site keys had been invalidated around that time.

I know that.
It was a Blizzard Key for Overwatch bundled together with Steam Keys.

They generally do sales right after bot banwaves. It’s been a working business model. Might be different here since they’re relying on the battlepass and shop for revs tho.

I know of zero valid promotional packages that would have Blizzard games mixed with Steam keys. Does not mean one does not exist, but if so I have not ever heard of one.

You could get a legit key from a reseller for ~5 bucks 2 years after the game released.

Diablo 4 doesn’t have regional pricing.

Pretty much every nvidia RTX card available at the moment comes with a free copy of Diablo 4. Yes it’s more than $70, but if you’re wondering how long it’s going to be before you can get $10 off a $70 game, then chances are your PC is probably not really good enough to run it properly anyway.

So go upgrade, get the game for free, win-win.

Good point.
I bet many of these keys will show up on reseller websites as soon as they get sent out.

Interesting. That is certainly not something I had seen before. How odd. I can’t think of any other game they did that with. Their games are not on Steam and Steam is not an authorized retailer so it makes no sense… I guess I get to just be confused by it.

cyber monday will be your best bet. for 10 bucks off if i had to guess LOL

While the keyseller sites often have stolen keys or credit cards etc. authorized sellers also often sell new games at 20% off. That alone is not an indication of fraud. When you get 30% of the revenue, selling 20% off is 10%. For small resellers 10% beats 0%.
And as some point out above, some of the shady sites are also simply abusing the price differences between regions.

Zelda pricing was weird. So much talk about it going for $70 price, yet it was easy to get it for ~$55 at launch day from authorized sellers.

You made me curious.
I can see I got an Overwatch key from a bundle back in 2018, along with various Steam games.
In classic Blizzard style, the unused Overwatch key seem to have expired, while the Steam keys could still be used if I wanted to

Those bundles are not just Steam, also sometimes Epic, EA, Ubisoft etc. Albeit, 90%+ Steam keys.
Blizzard keys is a rarity for sure though.
But the same site have had Call of Duty battlenet keys for example. Apparently got one of those back in 2019. also unclaimed and expired :see_no_evil:

On the other hand, games price didnt go up for… 10 years? Maybe more.
Inflation is still a thing and increasing game prices will be quite common now.

Game prices are not bound to follow any kind of inflation.
It seems reasonable that prices are going up a bit though, and for most games there are still so many ways to get the games below MRSP with a bit of patience. I mean, you can get Diablo 4 “for free” if you happened to be buying a Nvidia GPU currently. My code was mailed today, sadly cant register it yet, as there has to be an installed GPU in your PC for it to work…
Heck, IF the Microsoft acquisition goes through, you can likely get Diablo 4 on Game Pass soon enough.
I could also easily see Diablo 4 go on sale much faster than D3 did, since Blizzard is trying to monetize barbarians in dresses and what not. So selling the game cheaper, to lure in innocent people, can be a good strategy for them. Presumably the same reason why they would give away Overwatch in a bundle. And why they quickly put WoW Dragonflight on sale.

This game is literally already on promotion before it even releases. I ended up getting the game for free just because it’s included with so many different PCs and GPUs.

I honestly don’t think it will be that long before it goes on sale but I wouldn’t expect 60%+ off for a while at least.

It is worth it for me.
They start with nothing ,they start to develop and work on it for years.

It’s money well spend imo!

Yeah

My new GPU is on it’s way and i am expecting it tomorrow with a free D4 key ,so i am going to make a friend verry happy

Thinly-veiled begging thread?

Diablo 4 will be Free 2 Play two years after it comes out.

They wont call it D4, they will call it D5 and it will be basically D4 with a revamp of the cash shop to allow for levelling boosts and gem slot upgrades. They will tell us its to get ready for a huge new expansion coming down the pipes but 4 years later they will cancel it for a renewed focus on MTX and Seasonal stuff.

Now imagine if I had said that about Overwatch 1 just before it was to be released and how much I would be lambasted for it!!
