Unable to play on Linux platforms after new update

To the Dev’s

Appreciate the work here, its not easy managing platforms or coordinating the fixes on many layers across teams.

Thanks to the Proton and Steam Community for driving the changes also.

For those lost on how to fix it for Battle.Net Launcher users in Steam:

Open Steam
Open Your Library
At the top select the drop down and make sure you click “Tools”
In Search input “proton”
You will see a list of the protons installed on your system
Select “Proton Experimental”
Choose the “Cog” icon on the right hand side of steam UI
Choose “Properties”
Select “Game Versions & Betas”
Select the radio Button next to “bleeding-edge” not the ones with any other character after them
Close the dialog

Then back in your library click on your Battle.Net Launcher
Click on the “Cog” icon there and select properties
In Compatibility “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” Select “Proton Experimental”

Then Launch the Battle.net Launcher and let it update and then update the game.

For the Lutris/Heroic Users, I have not specifically fixed that there, but I would look at your Proton Management app for the system and see if you can load PRoton Experimental into the system.

I took a quick look in ProtonUp-QT and could not find it. I would bite the bullet and load the Battle.net Launcher in Steam. You will get all the upside without all the system management drama. There are guides out there to do this, you will need the the battle.net setup launcher (Download is available from a windows system) then add the launcher through steam as a Steam game. Steam sets it up and then you open it and manage it as normal.

This is aimed to help those who are not as up to speed with Linux, hope it helps.

Good Luck and Have fun.
