the delay is upsetting. The blizzard tracker “small delay” turning into 5 hour wait and getting tracker info every 3 hours is a serious concern and really what is making me such angry pants.

No one? WTF are you talking about? People took off work for this, they have advertised this for months, they had a PTR, they have countdowns and still can’t get this sh*t right.

I was an IT professional and a software developer my entire career. I recently retired.
In IT we always, and I mean always plan for the worse case, and therefore never ever over promise. I had a boss one time who always wanted to promise the stars and we told him no. We always over deliver.
What I don’t understand, if you post a world wide release time why would you not take the game down a few hours early to get the new release ready to go. It makes no sense at all that they allowed people to continue playing right up until release time. That is very very poor planning… just saying…
Blizzard has been doing these releases for what, 30 years… between WOW, Diablo, etc., etc., you would think they would understand this by now.

And people will still see 4pm and demand compensation even if its up by 7, its the way the world is ATM, it doesnt matter how many disclaimers or time periods are put there, people will see 4pm and demand…

It seems to me they want everyone on the 8th rather than the 7th so they are delaying until all of north America is on the 8th per the calendar. Might as well go to bed and play tomorrow.
I don’t know, but with such a global wide-ranging update with open games or expansions and so on, there can always be some problems if they don’t meet the set time, but it’s normal if the game is delayed, all companies have some problem … I wouldn’t stop here, but unfortunately, that’s the way it is, and you have to think about it and not get angry like some people write

Considering how many years of experience you guys have, and being a multi billion dollar company… Made us all pre-order and show up, 4 hours in and we are still waiting. This must be a joke.

no one is mad well speak for yourself . Im very punctual and always on time and expect game to be on time . was late last season startup to. blizz fire to many people or what. should have been a mock release if they cant get it right!!! its going on 4 hrs and says we need to dl another large patch. wonder how long that will take.

I definitely think it was rather bold of them to set a time of release, and it seems they tried to have their ducks in order by preloading content, but clearly someone/something F’d up pretty badly. Considering I dont know what its truly like to develop and release a game on multiple platforms, I can only imagine the difficulties involved.
Like any other job, mistakes are inevitable, and I agree, they should plan for an issue at launch and then be able to overdeliver. I suppose this is par for the course though and I pretty much expected there to be several hours of downtime before release.
