To all that Say Baldur's Gate 3 > Diablo 4

I mean, BG3 is primarily a story based game. Its not made to blow your socks off with combat mechanics.

BG3 also has the nostalgia + lore factor for many coming from pencil and paper D&D / AD&D. The graphics and cut scenes are pretty good, though I wish Larien went the extra mile with giving your character full audio/video dialog playback instead of just standing there like a mute as you deliver your chosen lines.

Minsc much ?

There is no downside to convincing people to accidentally buy Bg3 instead of D4.

I’m currently role playing as a role player in baulders.

Huh no its not…

You’re delusional.

EA been out forever like somehow you now feel this

Thanks ! I Uninstalled Diablo4 just to make space for Baldur’s Gate 3

well they are in for a rude awakening if they bough the game

not that its a bad game far far from it

but not evryone likes Turn based games

that said it has a healthy 510k players on steam

ofcourse thats not the only place you can buy it

oh while its a very good game

allot can go wrong if you buy the game if you dont know what the hell you walking into

It’s funny about people saying it’s a better game when it’s had 20 years to develope and still has an issue where it won’t save at all.

They are Two different genre of games with vastly play styles.

That is mentioned quite a few times around here, but;
Not everyone likes fast paced action games either.

Sure, similar with the people buying D4 not knowing what seasons meant, not knowing what an A-RPG is, or expecting an MMO.
None of that is something special for BG3.

Tbh, people probably should go out of their comfort zone more often. Both for gaming and in general.

I assume the game has modding, so it is basically guaranteed that this option will exist before the end of the week.

The way I look at BG3 vs D4 though is the quality. Not what is more fun. They are compeltely different games.

Look at it like this…

D4 has been in development for 10 years i believe? Maybe a bit less. BG3 has been in development for much less time with a much smaller team and they managed to produce a much higher quality of game. Its very polished and complete.

Diablo 4 is not complete and is just garbage in my opionion for how long it was in development and how big the team was.

I think thats what a lot of people really mean when making the comparison. Or maybe not.

But the fact is BG3 with all their very deep systems and complex RPG elements, it is a much higher quality of game compared to D4. When youve played both games. Its very obvious.

I could probably do a campaign that Starcraft II is a better AARPG and I’d probably get a following. It’s really sad what this fan base has become.

BG3 is even turn based a better A-RPG than Diablo4 the ā€œsouls likeā€.

There’s nothing remotely Souls-like about Diablo IV.

The fact that it is a full game with no micro-transaction or internet requirements makes it better than anything that is out right now.

D4 was in development for 6-7 years, not 10. Also, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in development since 2017. So, realistically, both games were in development for about the same amount of time.

I’m old enough to remember when both Diablo 1 and Baldur’s Gate 1 came out. BG1 came out a year or two later than D1 and I remember thinking it was basically a Diablo type game with more characters. The reason? It was a point and click overhead view rpg and the way you selected multiple characters was very similar to another blizzard game: Warcraft. BG1 was more story and character driven, and the mechanics were based on AD&D 2E so was a bit more complex than D1, but for the most part they felt like very similar games and I would have put them in the same genre.

But now the two games are very different and I would not place them in the same genre. BG3 combat is no longer realtime and is turn based (you could argue that due to the pause feature in BG1 and 2 it was never truly realtime, but it certainly felt more realtime in those older games). D4 combats moves much more quickly and requires quick reaction time where-as in BG3 you can take your time to plan out your attacks.

D4 is one of those games that you can play more casually and turn your mind off as you let your instincts take over as you battle your way through dungeons, whereas BG3 requires your full attention most of the time. So I guess it depends on the mood you’re in. If you want to kick back and play a game while watching tv or chatting with your friends, D4 is the better game. But if you want a game to fully suck you in and demand your full concentration, BG3 is the game for you. I like both games depending on my mood.

LOL flippin what m8?

You disagree? I spend most of my time just chatting with my friends on xbox live or watching youtube videos as I do D4 quests. Yes for nightmare dungeons I need to be more careful and pay attention more closely. But most of the game I just play casually. You even see a lot of streamers do this. Destiny has political debates with people as he’s playing Diablo.

You can’t really do that in BG3 unless you’re just grinding for xp or something, but there’s no real reason to spend a lot of time doing that in BG3.
