Thoughts on the Developer Update

I’m looking forward to some of the seasonal things. I have been having a hard time not rolling an alt because of trying to wait for season one. 14 more days, don’t know if I can keep waiting but will try! Now that my character is in their 90s and the only real thing to do to keep getting those last points is nightmares over and over and over, it has become a bit tedious.
-I like the idea of seaons okay. Looked into it before getting the game. The big negative to me is that it feels like it makes a lot of the big fixes and tweaks needed get pushed WAYYY further out to start with X season.

Yeah, the transparency was good. Joe struck the most serious tone and tried to reassure the playerbase. This was good. I could do without Rod constantly making light of every situation. Reality is that the game is not as good as it could be and derailing the livestream with jokes all the time and positivity is not prudent. This attitude seems great for motivating his team to keep in good spirits, but not for the player base. The relationship is very different there. Good personality for managing a team; not good for instilling confidence when the game has major problems.

I’m not that optimistic about season 1. We’ll have to see how the aspects/legos/uniques make the game feel different. Might try it out, but not really excited.

My list of outstanding issues:

  • They have not fixed the GPU and memory issues (critical change and probably takes a lot of work). Would love to be able to disable the UI rendering for my character and vendors, but giving us that option would be tantamount to admitting there’s a huge flaw in the game coding that is stressing GPUs more than it should. (Oh, and the newest problem is afking at Zarbinzet TP spot made my GPU fan go crazy. Never happened before. Please look into suspicious coding and GPU demand when idling at TP spot)
  • Lack of monster variety. It’s not even being talked about, but this would help to know that they plan to add more monster types so we don’t feel like we’re all just killing humans and animals most of the time. Guess they’re all hands on deck to fix the game’s problems and develop seasons.
  • Campaign is weak starting in certain parts of Act 3, quality deteriorates probably after Gul Raan. Hell also needs more novel demons.

It would have taken just one person to say “Hey peeps, why are we trying to reinvent the wheel?”.

I feel rod is the only reason anything is explained properly

he’s good at “wrapping it up” when it comes to larger points but i’m not sure the value is greater in performing that role.
as i said way above, i’d take 5% more ambiguity in order to cover more ground in the conversation.

Dungeons should have bosses and purpose, not objectives and random elites.

A lot of people in IT, and outside IT, don’t understand how hard it is translate. Talking about IT stuff to non-technical people can be very difficult. (Especially when they have words they use for their specialty that are also used in technical jargon. )
It’s always valuable to have someone who can “speak norm” on a technical team.

I enjoyed most of it. I thought it wise to not read the forums during it, however, because I knew there would be automatic negativity from the users here and I wanted to make my own decision about it.

That being said, I thought it was great, aside from the colon joke, and the part about them looking into more stash space. I don’t believe that. To believe that I would have to think these guys are too stupid to realize everyone was going to need more stash space, and I just don’t think they are that stupid. So, it upsets me when I feel like they are lying about that, because they either have to be stupid or lying, and I just don’t feel like they are that stupid. Stash space had to have been discussed during development. Anyway, I felt it was overall positive, but that stash answer felt like total BS to me.

Very underwhelming, and nothing being done about the issues the game has

Scroll of amnesia means we wont have loadouts, which is bad news

Nothing about loot being underwhelming

The stash comment telling us that is difficult to increase inventory space is just them spitting in our faces

It was a very, very underwhelming Season preview

That was the highlight of the stream, tbh.

Starting off with 30 minutes of Diablo Immortal told me all I needed to know about their headspace.

Take that out and give me a top 10 players feedback request that we are working on and it would have been a W.

I really feel that a lot of the things we are looking forward to are fixes and not really new and engaging content.

Endgame is like a cookie with no milk

The livestream was time, well… spent. “Diablo Immortal, Diablo Immortal, Diablo Immortal”… don’t care, closed stream. Will wait for someone to post a summary of D4 season 1 so I don’t have to suffer an IQ drop from watching these clowns.

big yes to this.

the colon joke felt kind of unprofessional. the stash issue is a whole thing for the community - honestly, i haven’t filled mine up yet and have been playing since release. it’s unclear to me how people fill this up beyond just having way too many gems lol

You’re the one crying lol

Yeah… I get that they have a new class and wanted to show it off, but opening with it was a mistake. 90% of the people watching don’t care. Save it for the end.

Now, if they put that class into D4, then maybe I will care. wink wink

They launched a website for it if you wanna check it out.

I liked the colon joke and the cancer theme. It was refreshing to hear what this game actually is from the mouth of the man in charge. I will hand it to him, he actually admitted this was a foundation and not a game.

You mean the guy that talks about the lack of D4 QoL features that were already implemented in previous games in this same series because “D4 just released and D3 has been there for 10 years”? How an industry guy can talk like if the concept “know how” didn’t exist?

I mean: “the car has released with square wheels, we’re fixing them for the next patch, cause we’ve only just discovered right now that round ones make it work better”.

Aww, you mad someone doesn’t like your game? Last time I checked that wasn’t again ToS. Also, no bans perma, Blizzards canned bot responses told me so when I tried to contact customer support to delete my account. When they told me only I could (and they will just hold onto my consumer data anyways) it became clear there is absolutely no repercussions here. I’ll be here as long as you are here to cry about other peoples opnions buddy. If d4 is so good, why are you here and not playing

Thank you very much!
