This game seriously requires itemization changes

SO in Diablo 4 we all know ILVL is tied to an item’s power and this is the main issue with the game. The team should understand an item is an item. Dagger-A doesn’t need blue, yellow and orange versions. Dagger-A should only have one version thats Dagger-A which always be blue. Dagger-A might be a curved sacrificial dagger used by Fallen shamans and it drop usually from them. This Dagger has life leech, % improvement to attack speed. If Dagger B does cold damage, some players will opt for that. This will depend upon the playstyle the player wants to play.

Diablo 4’s itemization is a fail. This is lazy design. I understand dev team doesn’t want to make 10 different daggers as a magic item and another 10 different daggers in legendary. Instead make one dagger, give it a power curve and slap an ILVL this will streamline the dev process.

This is why Diablo 4 fails completely, Player’s playtime only matters if they are max level else it’s a waste of effort then why not just make all players start at max level with a world scaled to max level?

Why should a player level up and waste their time to scale the world so that they can finally play?
This is a complete disrespect of a user’s time and gives very poor user experience.

Why are you worried that a player on their journey finds a legendary item at level 2? They will be set for a considerable amount for time unless they want to change their playstyle. This will give players an incredible satisfaction and will be filled with joy. They should have that freedom and agency. This game currently doesn’t respect player’s agency.

All items should be usable by all classes, no need to restrict a sorc from using a 2 handed sword because 2 handed sword usually have a STR requirement so a Sorc might not use it unless they respec.

Remove Primary stat being attached to every item, it’s pointless and one of the worst ways to design items.

Remove the concept of account bound, soul bound. Do not bound the items at all. Create a donation box where generous players can just drop an item if they don’t want to the public and anyone in the game can pick it up. No gold required to be payed to other players, no bidding and all. If you find an item which can be used by a sorc it can be given to an alt or put in the donation box which can be accessed by other players who plays a sorc or simply email it to your friend.

This game seriously requires redesign of core concepts, I hope dev team stop working on expacs and first make a good foundation. Stop wasting time and money on expensive cutscenes and voice acting. Instead invest in gameplay and core mechanics.

I mean, that’s definitely an opinion.

Reckon it’s ok how it is. And we’ve had enough item reworks that break eternal.

They should rework legacy stash code though. Tab space, dupes, vram leaks in focus.

i think the studio has to decide whether to add more flavors for gen x & y or skew toward the preferences of gen z. they could analyze feedback demographics to determine which age group prefers what and set that direction.

for gen x & y, it might look dumbed down, but for gen z, it feels edgy and works smart.

it’s their era now, old gen folks have to admit and get used to it.

This game seriously needs alot more than itemization changes. It would be a good start.

It would only be a drop in the bucket. Seeing as they took 5 tries to fix Mendeln and still fell short I don’t have faith they can do it.

I didn’t follow that one… sounds not good and indicative of not having a head around all the builds and capabilities.

Think blizzard has well and truly made their bed on this issue.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on large changes anymore.

This describes how I see it as well. The whole item level stuff feels out of place. At the very least, the power range associated with it is far too large.

I never thought of it that way, cool idea!

I am not in favour of making the game faster or easier, but if the itemisation is tweaked to be more about drop chances and difficulty levels, which it already is to some extent, then I would definitely be interested in trying that on the PTR.

LOL, don’t you think it’s creative & edgy? like a box of pizza with beef noodle pho topping, and a chocolate shake blended with smoked salmon.

yep, itemization is the backbone of a loot-driven game like D4, and D4 really needs to listen to the community instead of playing deaf.

Im intrigued.

Im puking.
