I’ve tried leveling a Barb on the new season, but OMG. Is this class weak!
I’ve leveled until 50, but even normal mobs give me a hard time. I’m following the d4builds leveling guide, but even a pre-made build makes my barb a useless pixel on the screen. It begs the question… Am I supposed to be the healer playing this class!!!
While I have such a hard time killing a normal mob, my firewall sorceress just destroy everything in it’s path. Complete annihilation. Is my full of muscles barb trying to have a talk and hangout with the mobs before deciding to kill them? Trying to make friends in hell? Inviting goat-men for a drink? Idk, it just feels so weak.
Is this only while leveling, or is this class still garbage on the end-game as well?

Depends on your goal and playstyle. The barb as it stands is what the devs want for all classes to be. Slow and steady progress, consistent DPS and reliable survivability. Slow progress = more endgame in their minds. Clearing mobs fast and easy means players will eventually get bored and clamour for more endgame. lol.
And the barb doesn’t come into being without a pile of uniques. Their skills in of themselves are relatively weak since season 4 (thanks nerfs) and each core skill requires a boosting unique. Most builds revolve around EQ (which are getting nerfed for Season 9) and need the Ugly helm or Mountain chest or both, EQ aspects, Starless ring, Arreat pants, Fist of Fate gloves, etc. Just to be able to do the screen clearing like the sorcs.
Patience and continue grinding. Barbs do shine in the endgame. We may not hit the heights of death trap rogues, bloodwave necros, cataclysm druids or LS sorcs, but Minion EQ barbs can hold their own. But for build variety, barbs do suck when compared to other classes outside of the meta builds.
Still, my barb with all skills don’t kill anything!
My sorc without items and 10lvls behind on putting any skills has WAY more damage and killing potential than a barbarian. There’s a limit on how weak a class can be while leveling.
My sorc on lvl 30 and with one unique has more damage, more crits, more life and feels more powerful than my lvl 50 Barb. This is a joke!
I have troubles killing a normal mob, while the sorc just literally melts elites!
The ONLY time my barb kills anything, is every 40 seconds with my ult. But my sorc doesn’t even need ults!
There is something extremely wrong with progression here, it’s impossible that a barb can be THAT weak!

Barb levels horribly. Generally slow and generally way too much cooldown. This season at least I found that the end result of all that trouble still didn’t play that great and simply wasn’t worth it so I deleted it.
I would suggest Rogue but then unfortunately it’s only DoK transitioning to DT and that’s about all you got for a little while and then that will be gone as well.
It’s because they turned Barb into a caster. It’s all about minions, earthquakes and dust devils and skills and skills like Whirlwind is doing 0 damage.
The skills should do 80% of the damage and dust devils and earthquakes should be bonus damage.
