The Tower, tales from the future

Stay awhile and listen!

As a great man once said “Studios should create games they genuinely want to experience themselves, not for market share or brand service”. As long as you treat players as numbers on a spreadsheet you will keep failing.

That said let me explain to some players (tho many can read between the lines) why Blizzard wants to reset leaderboards every two weeks. It’s all for player retention, just like what they did some time ago with increasing teleportation from dungeons with 2 seconds, if i remember correctly, in layman’s terms “they steal time”.

And now to the actual coming changes that will happen in the near future. How soon… well it all depends on whether Blizzard wants to listen or they just want to hit the same wall for a couple of seasons.

  1. There will be only one leaderboard per season. This gives players the choice to push on more characters per season. Keeping the leaderboards on a 2 week reset will only dilute the happiness of the players until it turns into sorrow. No one loves doing chores.
  2. The Pit will be discontinued and all the rewards will move to the tower. More happiness to the players.
  3. There will be an SSF mode. No explanation needed.
  4. The leaderboards button will become one of the main menus ingame. Make it matter.

A monkey once said “Who cares about the leaderboards”, don’t go that route again, Blizzard. Stop threating players like numbers and the numbers will increase.
