The Soulspire problem

I hate Soulspires. They slow things down and generally offer significantly less reward than the other options. They should be reworked. Either:

  1. Significantly buff the amount of Aether awarded for the effort/time and/or change the boons for it.
  2. Add a boon that removes them with the curse, “Reduce all other aether event rewards by X.”

I feel like the second one there would instantly make things better. Even Aetherlords are more worthwhile than them, and that is really bad.

And it really spawns a lot

I ignored it and can up to 3 up at once, really dislike it with passion

They seem to be 80% of the spawns lately.
If they at least worked like the Soulspires in Helltide and generated mobs to kill they wouldn’t suck so bad.

Agree, they either need to removed or modified

well they fixed aetherlords. i have done runs where i just focused on getting aetherlords this season and got over 1k. but ya the spires are problematic. they do slow things down a little, its less noticeable if you party so i dont have a problem with them. only 1 person needs to stand inside and everyone else can kill mobs in the rest of the map and they complete near instantly.

Last night I did an IH with 10 waves and all I got for options were masses, spires and lords. It was a dismal run to say the least.
They need to make them worthwhile or maybe remove the 2x one. As if anyone want to sit even longer in one place.

with any high mobility build it is horrible to deal with them I am forever jumping out of the circle by accident

they need to double the circle size and that’s a simple fix to make them fit better into the theme of compasses. Other buffs would be nice, but blizz doesn’t want us to have fun, so I won’t get greedy.

Just make the mob pull automatic when standing in the spire area, I mean I almost always take this cause otherwise it’s really bad to be doing the spires challenges

And the upgrade be extra 25% a radius and pull range increase. As for the Bane - be creative a bit, perhaps taking extra projectile damage

The spires are the worst but there are many trash ones. The orange ones are a joke, 15 aether? Really? If I grab that every single wave I’d barely be able to open the equipment chest.

Spiritborn are so op you can just focus on lords and do well. I got 800 that way with no hellborn synergy.

And yes spires suck. Im on a vortex spiritborn speed build so no problem for me as I can vortex endlessly.

I routinely ignore them when they spawn and rarely ever see more than 1 per wave and still typicaly get 800-1000 per 10 waves. Once spawned, don’t run over to it but rather continue to focus on killing hordes as this spawns other aether events. This strategy works even better once you’ve chosen +50% aether events boon.

Juat don’t tell Blizz about the strategy because instead of fixing the balance, ancestral and max affix drop rates, they’ll just put out a patch making spires more annoying.

You dont complete spires on purpose because it makes more mobs? Interesting.

How many spires do you leave up on purpose?

I just wish the spire option of 2x as many points when destroyed showed up more often. A stacking like that would be good; so spires would be multiplicative while the others are additive to compensate.

Wish I had your luck. If I ignore them I end up with 3 spires and nothing else spawning almost every time.

I don’t understand why more than one “event” will spawn at the same time at the same location but it won’t happen if there is a spire there.

Spires are one of the many issues w/ IH.
The randomness itself is an issue as some runs are just 'bad luck" and u get crap currency for the effort ebcasue random buffs just give you nothing good.

A better solution would be they spawn aether elites when completed, like they do in the overworld. That would play in nicely to Elite boons/banes, which are kinda lacking. Lords and Hellbornes are the way to go.

I think, long term, the three choices should be divide between four options; hellborne, elites, Lords, with a fourth option of “stuff”, like Council, Butcher, Hordes, Spires , Masses and the like., so there are no “dead-end” picks like the current Spires.

Burning Rain goes into Hellbournes
Spires could go into Elites
and Masses branch off to Lords.
Hordes could branch off to everything.

remove the dead choices, like movement speed on aether, infinite resources on slow, and masses on wave start.

I hated them on my Blood Surge Necro.

Then I made a Quills SB as my second character. It’s super hard to stay in the circle because of the TP effect. I have to try to vortex and hope I get enough in one shot.

I am ok with the Spires. I actually like to avoid them and when there are 3 then things really pop in the 4th quadrant. Especially in the later rounds and there are some good buffs going, you can stay in the 4th non Spire quadrant and almost everything spawns right on top of you. Yes, the “Buffs” are dumb and wasted, those should be at the very least limited to one “Buff” per selection round.
