Given that only D2 had a true cow level, I would presume D4 will have something similar but not with cows.
At this point if they don’t have a secret level, that would be very unusual, because it’s definitely the kind of Easter Egg everybody is looking forward to, especially now and I’m sure the developers would have had lots of fun making a level that is completely out of line with the D4 theme.
I also strongly believe that predatory practices in terms of monetization will be the end of many franchises and games. OW2 is a very nice example of this, because I bought the special edition of OW1 and like me, many others have expected to get something when OW2 launches, but holy moly, thy just gave a skin nobody liked, and they thought they solved the problem.
Now, I couldn’t really care much about these things, but it’s more about the approach these developers took and it’s the mentality that is bothersome. I don’t mind forking out money here and there on games which are fun to play.
Nevertheless, OW2 was and still is overpriced. They don’t keep their promises and balancing in that game is atrocious. Only as the player base has begun to decline, did they start nerfing certain characters which were a problem since OW1, which goes to show their desperation and it is funny how they start to care when they are losing money. I stopped playing the game for a good couple of months now, but there’s this comfort in knowing that OW2 is now struggling, it’s almost deserved.
Only problem is that there are many people involved in making games and I would presume most of the people who do the art, the gameplay mechanics and all that stuff, they’re not the ones with the monetization idea.
Anyways, D4 must have learned from Immortals, because that game was ridiculous. As much that I am a fan of Diablo, I played Immortals for a week and never touched it again. I think many developers have lost touch with their fan-base, they are underestimate them, but I would like to think in D4 things will be better and more fair.
Genshin Impact has a nice design and although completely different games, playing Genshin feels fair despite their being premium aspects, but the game is fun for F2P as well. You can get premium currency just by playing, you have a variety of events all for free, Battle Pass does not expect you to grind, daily missions are quick and easy. It’s a game even a busy person can enjoy. It’s easy to keep track of stuff and that appealed to me.
I also like Battle Passes from which you can earn back the premium currency you spent, such as in Fortnite or Apex Legends. This allows you to cycle with Battle Passes, but if you don’t finish it then you have to pay again. However, as long as you keep finishing it, you can spend your money on other cosmetics if you wish.
There are many ways to approach monetization and I think most gamers could come to terms with developers in this case, the problem is greed and that is where gamers get fed up and annoyed.
