The last hour of the campaign (spoilers)

“I saw my corpse, and from my mouth crawled Hatred, A father burned his children on a pyre and a mother molded a new age from the ashes, I saw the weak made strong, a pack of lambs feasting on wolves, Tears of blood rained on a desert jewel, and the way to Hell war torn asunder, Then came a spear of light, piercing Hatred’s Heart, And he who was bound in chains was set free.”

– Rathma’s Prophecy

Other than killing his son, none of this had anything to do with Inarius. I don’t know if you realize where a heart is located, but it’s not in the stomach.

Best part of D3 honestly.

Shut up Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to “get it”!

SPOILERS

How do you read that and not see that literally all of it is about Inarius? Wut. We literally see him being the real hateful one all game long, and then see his heart get impaled with his own spear.

And it still doesn’t answer how the entire game teases hell coming and instead we spend 90 percent of the game chasing a side villain. Hell never came.

I also LOVE how in the final act the side characters admit that this whole soulstone plotline has been probably fruitless and that the main character will probably end up being the “real weapon”. So what did we spend all this time making a soulstone for then? The answer: The entire game is a plot device to have a soulstone with a prime in it for a cliffhanger. Wow great story telling… Ugh what a headache.

You really think that Inarius is the one being referred to as hatred even with Lilith the daughter of HATRED and Mephisto the Lord of HATRED being involved? You are delusional.

And you think assuming a random stranger is going be able to beat the prime evil and Lilith is a better plotline? They thought the soulstone was their best option and it was. Hindsight is 20/20. Bugging someone to put their safety harness before they go to large heights doesn’t mean they are going to fall.

It’s called a preventative measure. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Yep. Seems like the story went right over your head. Lilith got impaled in the stomach. Inarius, who killed his own son and was willing to sacrifice his children and calls them “abominations” gets spiked in the heart with his light stick. She even tells him that he belongs in hell, regardless of how many people he sacrifices and murders. The entire game Inarius declares himself the good guy while doing terrible things out of pride and ego. The prophecy was a play on words.

That was literally the entire plot twist. cmon man.

Massive girl power monologue :face_vomiting:
Reminds me of d3 somewhat. but at least d3 had the sense to kill off leah…

I actually thought the moral ambiguity around Lilith was very interesting. But it was completely tossed aside by “must kill Lilith because reasons”. and instead we get leah 2.0…

Taissa’s character was also a bit of a ridiculous twist. I think even her accent changed in the dialogue.

The more I think of the plot, the less I like it.

Good thing I can separate the plot from the gameplay now.

I understood that line more as a metaphor of piercing her heart (emotionally) by not choosing to side with her and what they created together.

If you thought that was a plot twist, I can see there is no point in talking to you. Added to ignore list.

You kind of did. In a recent interview it was revealed they’re already working on two expansions.

This massive map we’re on, that’s like a corner of one continent in Sanctuary.

I don’t know what Shakespearean play you thought you were watching but we were playing Diablo 4. It was a pretty straight forward story, with a climax that used a little bit of dramatic irony.
