The season itself is actually pretty decent, but when it comes to optimization, I honestly don’t think it could get much worse. Every time the game transitions between areas, it causes massive stuttering that can last up to 10 seconds. Helltides are by far the worst the freezes and lag spikes happen so often that the mode has become almost unplayable for me.
This issue has been around for several seasons already, but this season is easily the worst so far. At this point, I’m honestly afraid to think about how bad the next season could be. Because of these stutters, I’ve already lost two HC characters, so this is far beyond just “minor performance issues” it directly impacts gameplay.
I’ve tried pretty much everything: changing graphics settings, closing background programs, testing different configurations and the problem only happens in Diablo. The game has even completely frozen my PC a few times, forcing me to do a hard reset.
For reference: an RTX 4080, 64 GB RAM, and an i9-14900K should handle this game without any issues whatsoever. That’s what makes it even more frustrating to see the optimization in such a terrible state.
Let me know if anyone else is having the same problems.
I’ve had zero issues. I recommend taking your computer to a computer repair shop or run benchmark yourself if you’re computer savvy.

I have experienced the same thing, updated drivers and also running a i9 with with 256gb of ram and a 5080 graphics card. I can say its not a issue with the computer or a benchmark issue. But something else going on with the game code itself.
Every other game i play runs perfectly fine with the graphics. Only see stuttering on zone changes in D4

I am on a i-9 12900K 3090ti
play at 1080p 120hz. (this is limited by my laser projector speeds)
on my monitor I can play at 240hz np.
Rollback to the January nVidia Drivers. I had issues with the one that came after rolled back and have not moved to the one after the problematic one still.
(I didn’t move to the one after as it is the same #version/series just further along, there were power draw issues especially with higher end and 30xxx series cards that made that dirver problematic. They said the next one fixed some issue but there were still some, from people on the nVida forums.)
Your’s should run better than mine.
for the record I did not have issues in Arc Raiders or other games I generally play, this one exposes a lot because …well…memory leak…
I agree its a mess, there’s hundreds of threads about it currently, freezes,lag,rubber banding. As for those “it hasnt happened to me therfore must be your setup” educate before you assume, if you understood how the servers work and have been around since the release which im assuming you cant of been you would know this game has a mem leak that still hasnt been addressed and every season this happens yet doesnt alwaysstrike everybody but you can be sure the forums are full of these same comments. This season is the worst its been personally for me, after a coupl ehours the freezes are so bad i can barley move 10 feet with out stutters and freezes.
Keep an eye on your temps as i noticed with some areas of the new xpac they cause spikes. I’m running Msi Afterburner and adjust my fan speeds and that helps.
The game feels like it’s running on 10 year old server tech with old code to boot.
