The BIGGEST problem with Diablo 4

Your argument is valid …build diversity is terrible in this game.

Unfortunately I’m not sure they can fix this now……the game is what it is for better or worse.

Ask yourself though….how many hours you’ve sunk into this game….if it’s over the 100 hour mark then you well and truly got your money’s worth….if it’s 500 plus hours then you technically love this game……who spends more than 2-10 hour’s in a game they hate….but I’m getting off track.

My hope is they add more builds into the game but honestly I would be gob smacked if they do.

Chaos uniques are going to help some in S10 so long as they don’t change too much from PTR.

but yes there are some real issues with making 1-2 builds on 1-2 classes OP and everything else mediocre or straight up crap every season. i think a lot of it stems from the basic approach of not trying to balance anything, shifting the meta with class specific uniques from season to season, and constantly nerfing everything that is strong into oblivion when they decide to roll out a new meta just to make sure we play it. its transparent and boring and the franchise deserves better, as do we players.

Balance classes and skills and stop dictating the meta with uniques. let us find what is fun and what works … please…

The simple fact that major nerfs have been justified by “its had its moment in the sun” and not “it is way stronger and needs to reigned in a little” tells all

well… i have just a smidgen more than that, but i characterize it a little differently… I do love ARPGs, i do love the Diablo Franchise, i want to love d4… but they make it so hard most of the time

Chaos armors are one bright spot but lets not celebrate too much. Its not slated to be made permanent and overall D4 competitors are running circles around D4 in storage, endgame, crafting, skill trees, ect. D4 is still losing overall. Many players are trying out these other games. D4 should be the leader in ARPGs as it invented the genre but they are too scared or intimidated or held back to take risks and make something great. They would rather borrow from the past and just make it good enough.

i think it is an objective statement of fact that several other current and older than dirt ARPGs are superior to this game in many ways and that is a very sad thing.

Would Fancy Hats change your mind? :hamster:

Pretty demanding you are. Periwinkle blue and a fancy hat, don’t you think you are asking a bit much?

All the seasons they had nothing permanent was added during their wake. But they think each season with a new idea would bring people back but its only temporary until people finish the season and gets bored. With no endgame in place and no diversity of builds Diablo 4 made its grave because no DLC no extra characters and no extra bosses can restore Diablo 4 back to the fun factor again. Diablo 4 made its bed time to work on Diablo 5 and do it right.

only if they were drops and not store purchases :stuck_out_tongue:

Streamer partners would not have bling for their clickbait videos if there was. This is why we get this season after season.

The biggest problem with D4 left a few weeks ago. They now have a huge opportunity to turn things around and make meaningful progress.

Will they?

That remains to be seen. It will take a while to remove the Rodfluence.

It used to be like that before. Now it’s not so strict and ye canen experiment, although not in such a volume as Last Epoch doth. For the gold ye canen change the nodes, so …

Yes PoE 2 is better than PoE 1 in that sense. At least there’s a full respec option instead of having to gather rare orbs to take away 1 passive in your constellation tree. I could say to PoE 1’s credit it was made back in the day of coming off of D2. So things were different.

At the same time it’s been over a decade, they could’ve added a bit more QoL to PoE 1 by now. Just in terms of respecing mind you.

PoE 1 have gold respeccing too… its been over a year since they added it.

Oh they finally added it? Almost 11 years later? That’s good to know, thank you very much. I genuinely mean that, I’m not being sarcastic here, better late than never.

Even if you don’t follow one, there’s a recent nerf or bug fix to leeching life with Totems in PoE 2. Apparently it broke builds that rely on this behavior. They had to restart from scratch because there was no way to salvage their build

Thou canest change the nodes in POE 1 for gold. For the last year they added many things like this. Small but huge :))) For the common players.

P.s. It seems to me that sooner or later the Poe and Last Epoch adding to the game such improvements to the quality of life will simply take the Diablo’s niche. After all, Diablo is positioned as the casual game, but if there is nothing besides casuality in the game, then what is the point of playing it.

Each game has their own market of players. Some players like all three games, I myself am in this category. However I think it’s safe to say I don’t represent the majority either. Blizzard games are built around casual play in general, which typically has a bigger audience in general.

Not always of course, and we don’t have the numbers to see exactly how many come back each season. However for better or worse they have been changing the game consistently throughout the two years since launch. There’s also ‘big changes’ coming in S11.

I just wouldn’t underestimate the casual player base that Blizzard thrives on is all. It’s definitely no where near the numbers it was at launch, but considering they are still planning to release the expansion late next year, it’s obvious they’re doing something right.

Or just make everything Account Bound. One sure way to get the Rage-A-Thon started.

For me, Diablo 4 is not the casual game, but somewhere lower, at the bottom … The Last Epoch is the real casual game. It appreciateth thy time, explaineth everything well, accessible, intuitively everything is clear … what else do casual players like?

70 million copies of the base game were sold
There are less than 200K players today (and that is being generous)
How anyone can see that as “doing something right” is perplexing.
