⚔ Suggestion - detailed options for Combat Text, customisable colors and minion numbers (with picture)

I created a proposal for possible new additions to Diablo 4’s combat text. Here they are:

Show Combat Text

  • :ballot_box_with_check: for the player
  • :ballot_box_with_check: for minions :new:
  • :ballot_box_with_check: for mercanaries / NPCs :new:

Combat Text Types

  • :ballot_box_with_check: Normal Damage
  • :ballot_box_with_check: Critical Damage
  • :ballot_box_with_check: etc.
  • :ballot_box_with_check: Damage over time :new:

Customizable Combat Text Color :new:

  • :white_circle: Normal Damage
  • :yellow_circle: Critical Damage
  • :large_blue_circle: Overpower Damage
  • :orange_circle: Overpower Critical Damage
  • :purple_circle: Damage over Time :new:
  • :black_circle: Non-Number Text (CC / Vulnerable messages and other) :new:
  • :ballot_box_with_check: option to give followers (minions, NPCs etc) another single color for all types (overwrites everything) :new:
  1. The new checkboxes to show/hide damage for minions, mercenaries and NPCs are helpful for analyzing numbers for pet builds.

  2. Damage over Time got its own checkbox for similar reasons.

  3. A whole new section to let the player customize combat text colors for each type and even minions is added. This is for players who want to have other or more familiar colors. Make colors darker or brighter to stand out less or more.

Unsurprisingly, all additions I am suggesting are about getting more visibility of what individual players want to see. This is important in the training area and to analyse numbers in general. Imagine testing a pet build with player interaction from skills and numerous minions and effects - it is hard to see and compare differencies on our current live servers.

The customisable colors in particular are something that I would love to see coming to Diablo 4 (to this day I still confuse overpower colors). If colours could change transparency values, we wouldn’t even need the checkboxes for combat text types, just make them invisible.

Nice try, mb in 2030. Game has 100500 blocker/critical bugs, and here we are, let’s improve mercs dmg indication.

Hey hey there’s nothing wrong with wishful thinking

If we’re going to talk mercs, though, I’m glad they don’t make or break difficulty, but it would be nice to feel like they actually do anything.

Speaking of…

They actually do, e.g. trigger mobs while you’re in stealth and you can buy cashes with aspects while there is no aspects.
