Streamers are killing the game

? Traps and cc were way over tuned on release what are you talking about? That wasn’t just his take that was everyone’s take, shoot poison use to kill ya in seconds. Never seen him ask for leveling to be faster or loot to be more plentiful. The trap and cc changes affect seconds, the loot and leveling affect days to weeks.

Live service is what’s going to kill this genre….forget d4 and think bigger.

4 updates a year to keep us playing in hopes that we buy cosmetics and battle passes….boring.

It also spells death to a Diablo sequel now…forget about d5 Microsoft will have blizzard pump out seasons till no one turns up and then just switch it off.

All of us here know what’s coming we’ve seen this before…

He’s always looking for max efficiency. If if he can’t solve it, then it’s the games fault and he wants the game to change to enable further efficiency for himself. And yea that definitely makes it easier in ways. When S7 was new and he started with it, he was comparing PoE2 warrior to D4 barb, noting how hota/earthquake interaction was cool and all, it didn’t have the area of effect size on the screen as his PoE2 warrior build and so he preferred his PoE2 warrior. My thought was, dude just stay in PoE, and don’t give any more D4 feedback.

Agreed. When he said that he had been talking to blizzard about water wall since D3. I thought " Dude must not know about vampire aspect that allows you to evade thru wall." And of course when POE2 hit first criticism he had was being blocked by mobs and wanting to be able to phase roll thru them. Same goes for traps because god forbid he has to stop and watch where he steps. It all adds up to him not wanting to be bothered with strategizing his movement. If he cant face roll everything, something is wrong woth the game.

Streamers have killed this game.

Fixed it for ya.

It was in their interest to “create”, they were selfish. Therefore almost the same

The first thing they should’ve realized is:

  • The game is not finished

Some of them did that, some said the game requires VERY CAREFUL touch (Kripp for ex.), but sadly the vast minority of them

The second thing they should’ve realized was:

  • D4 was not D3, in fact it’s not your regular a/RPG either

The game was a very unique combination of an a/RPG and early-phase of a horror dungeon-explorer game, the skills weren’t flashy cause they weren’t supposed to, the skill upgrades weren’t vast cause again - they weren’t supposed to either

The game had a completely different phylosophy - pick your few favorite weapons and your favorite ammunition upgrade (give or take) and see how far you can get

That being said SLOWNESS and surprises were ESSENTIAL to the game, but they kept complaining how “inneficient” things are - well that’s because they weren’t supposed to be efficient

Which brings me to the final point which is:

  • Efficiency is not the way to complete the game

Aw shucks… Well, that’s what you get when some don’t just shut up to how “slow” everything is and needs to be flashier/faster… Hint - WASN’T, the game was unfinished and it was obvious that there was something missing in it (especially post lvl70-75), and most definitely the way to “fix the gap” was not to speed up the game with, wait for it:

  • More of the same
Oh and b.t.w. destroy the already existing perfectly functioning (almost at least) parts of the game (i.e. the early phase)

Ofcourse they didn’t.

In their defense - takes time for things to “settle” and realize what lacks, takes time to analyze quality (or lack thereof)… Especially when it comes to a new/unique take on the genre itself

BUT, here’s my bigger problem:

  • Not only they didn’t realize what was important, what wasn’t, how things were or weren’t, but they also GASLIT everyone real bad

The game was in absolute terrible shape in the two most important aspects of it (balance wise and content-wise post some phase of the game) AND was either swim in mud or 2-shot everything depending whether or not using a few “hacks”

Not only they didn’t put a single word of criticising that but also giving the complete false picture of: nope, all is fine, except (insert minor inconvenience X)

Be careful what you wish for eh ? :person_shrugging:
