Streamers are killing the game

Yeah, I know German Beavis.

I watched wudijo’s and rob’s class feedback that was provided prior to Season 6 or 7 (I think), and the dev team implemented almost literally zero of their recommendations, which were mostly: “make skills, uniques, and paragon more interesting”.

I believe their feedback was also solicited by the dev team itself. So, the dev team:
(1) asked for feedback;
(2) got told they needed to do actual work;
and (3) then did nothing.

It’s the rinse and repeat D4 experience.

In all of their feedback I never once heard them ask for dumbed down leveling and broken giga builds.

So to say they have any influence over the game is a bit laughable.

The team responsible for this game just makes bad and lazy decisions, end.

while i agree on that, thats not only coming from streamers. i mean heck, check the forums, reddit, etc. People cry their hearts out whenever theres a tiny bit of friction lol.

Congrats, we finally got the easiest arpg in existance where you also can gear up in record time.

i mean lets be honest, why are things like rmt even a thing? because so many people just
lost the ability to be patient in a game. Whenever they dont get their participation trophies, they are sad.

Well, d4 is full of participation trophies now.

Now that i think of it, its funny how many threads we had in the past along the lines of “Asmongold said!!”, “xyz said!!!”.

Its easy to blame streamers now, when in the end, they are just doing what their followers are screaming for.

Yes, bad and lazy… sound as ‘unprofessional’.

As if streamers have an interest in making the game bad.

It is not in vital interest for “Diablo Streamers” to make Diablo miserable. The aboslut opposite is true the game needs to be alive and relevant as long as possible.

Yes “mocking” videos raise a lot of attention but you can ride that attention train only that long before it collapses. A prospering game beeing relevant for many years is a much better outcome.

By now i think blizzard realised they did not manage to make the game the “Prime” ARPG it was supposed to be. Now they accepted that Diablo is just another ARPG and try to milk it as good as possible probably trying to learn for future of D5 if that will ever exist.

I do not see Blizzard wants to push the envelop for D4 anymore.

Addons get delayed, the “yearly” release circle is not an idea anymore, a lot of stuff from D3 or other ARPG get copy pastad and they already made clear that D5 will not be another 10 years away.

I see them treating D4 as a failure, they would never admit it, but i feel like blizzard is massivly dissapointed in D4. Just as we all are.

I disagree with you. Most of them didn’t ask for a 2 week game, for those who play for 6pm it ends in 3 days. Blizzard decided to have such a rapid progression and this rain of loot. Nobody asked for this.

What streamer, did any of them play this season of d4? Only know raxx and he was on poe2 like the next day after s7 dropped and yea he hates this 2 day season of d4

Gear isn’t so much a grind as it is a limitation on how much you can do in a season. I want to play multiple builds that require many different sets to work well across different classes, but that’s impossible as it stands now—unless this is one’s priority in life. I enjoy my wife way too much to spend that kind of time in this game

I don’t understand this idea that if you only play 2 hours a day, you should be just as geared as someone that lives on the game. It’s an arpg ie a time sink if you don’t have time to put into it why choose this genre?

You should become a streamer and fix the game.

They put minimal effort into balance. They need to hire someone that is serious about balance. A great and noble employee. One who will bring us salvation from the low effort meta.

Exactly, i can name about 5 that care and actually do stats on the game. They give great feedback on the game. If i was a project manager or department head, these would be my go to for testing and i would pay them for their time. However, i would not allow them to get geared within 2 hours of season start. They would start from scratch like everyone else.

D4 barely have any “big streamers” left. I doubt that they “dictate” anything at all at this point.
Barely anyone is watching the game on various platforms past first 3-4 days of a season.

D4 as a big twitch/streamer game has left the station at this point, they now have to cater to the dad gamers or the buddies who play on couch co-op an hour or two after school.

D4 IS a casual game, but apparently its not even casual enough for some people.

They dont dictate anything. Most are passionate about the game and want to help it succeed. Raxx is one of the ones I like. He puts time into testing and giving feedback (good and bad). Its refreshing to see. The devs are the ones who need to care.

i think in the end the problem is, and was, that blizzard wanted to appeal to everyone. some d2 here, some d3 here, lets add a bit of this etc etc.

I think i started saying it since s2, blizzard should have grown a backbone at one point and stick to their idea of d4.

I can only assume, the devs probably wanted to, but as it is with every big company, sales dictate where a game goes.

a game shouldnt, and cant appeal to everyone.

If you want to go for the instant gratification mobile gamers, well, then d4 is pretty good there. Honestly by now i wouldnt be surprised if d5 became a mobile game, with a desktok version and an ingame shop that sells powers, cause hell, why not? it also gets them income from the rmt people. All im saying is, so far all these changes that have been asked for, lead to d4 being the easiest arpg. Sure, there are a few things you should know, but really, the game hardly is rocket science.

The problem is Blizzard’s, since the Diablo 2 team left they never had their own criteria, they are the ones who can or cannot do things, not the streamers, they are already old enough to know what is right and what is wrong.

Streamers can’t be currently killing the game because no one is streaming it. About 700 twitch viewers in the first evening of a new event.

The game killed the game. Not a hard concept

ARPG is definitely not a genre I consider fun to watch other people play.

High skill ceiling competitive FPS/RTS on the other hand can be fun to watch if I’m also interested in those games.

That being said, I handpick and watch videos on Youtube instead of live streams.

Grinding is easy. Levelling is quick, too quick.

The gear…Streamers have an army of fans helping out with donating gear, If you watched any of them long enough they call out for gear too.

A lot of the things surrounding streamers is actually a byproduct of the modern age where you have instantaneous access to information as well as access to communities where information is posted for the public to see as soon as it is found. This isn’t just this state here, that state there, dotted across the country (in America). It’s worldwide. We have people from everywhere.

The function for streamers and youtubers is aggregating data and then presenting it to the public for public consumpion. So basically their job is to make sense out of what’s being posted, what’s happening, and so on, and then packaging it into a product that’s easy for everyone to understand. That helps to save people time and effort. Keep people informed.

Keeping the above in mind, it creates an environment where at any given point, players have access to the best builds, the best strategies, setups and so on so forth. Even if they aren’t, what’s available can help them get to the top. Instead of figuring it out yourself or if you have a hard time understanding, the information avilable online allows a person to fast track that process. It no longer takes 100’s to 1000’s of hours to figure out when you can look up a guide & get up to speed in 15-30mins. If even that!

When you see how, day 1 a build is super OP or people figure something out super fast, just know that it isn’t because of any 1 or several group of streamers and youtubers. They certainly have their part in spreading the information. It’s just how things are in today’s landscape.

It DOES make things easier for us players but at the same time, you have to change how you approach the game and how you interact with the community. It’s not quite so simple as visit the forums and share your thoughts. It’s actually a cutthroat environment where streamers/yt’ers $$ is based on what you decide to share. Blizzard’s game is also on the line & they’re trying to make the best game they can & that’s good for us players, of course that also means $ for them. Players just want a good game.

The question is how are you going to engage with the environment & all the information coming at you and what that does to your experience in the game. Back then, it was a simple matter & you would just play the game by yourself, but now, you’re running into information everywhere. Heck, the game is online. Day 1, someone will show up & clap BW’s or throw volleys. There’s nothing that you can do about it even if you wanted.
