A lot of the things surrounding streamers is actually a byproduct of the modern age where you have instantaneous access to information as well as access to communities where information is posted for the public to see as soon as it is found. This isn’t just this state here, that state there, dotted across the country (in America). It’s worldwide. We have people from everywhere.
The function for streamers and youtubers is aggregating data and then presenting it to the public for public consumpion. So basically their job is to make sense out of what’s being posted, what’s happening, and so on, and then packaging it into a product that’s easy for everyone to understand. That helps to save people time and effort. Keep people informed.
Keeping the above in mind, it creates an environment where at any given point, players have access to the best builds, the best strategies, setups and so on so forth. Even if they aren’t, what’s available can help them get to the top. Instead of figuring it out yourself or if you have a hard time understanding, the information avilable online allows a person to fast track that process. It no longer takes 100’s to 1000’s of hours to figure out when you can look up a guide & get up to speed in 15-30mins. If even that!
When you see how, day 1 a build is super OP or people figure something out super fast, just know that it isn’t because of any 1 or several group of streamers and youtubers. They certainly have their part in spreading the information. It’s just how things are in today’s landscape.
It DOES make things easier for us players but at the same time, you have to change how you approach the game and how you interact with the community. It’s not quite so simple as visit the forums and share your thoughts. It’s actually a cutthroat environment where streamers/yt’ers $$ is based on what you decide to share. Blizzard’s game is also on the line & they’re trying to make the best game they can & that’s good for us players, of course that also means $ for them. Players just want a good game.
The question is how are you going to engage with the environment & all the information coming at you and what that does to your experience in the game. Back then, it was a simple matter & you would just play the game by yourself, but now, you’re running into information everywhere. Heck, the game is online. Day 1, someone will show up & clap BW’s or throw volleys. There’s nothing that you can do about it even if you wanted.
