Yeah i know. I think its worth while speaking up for.
I think there’s a difference when the streamers sanctimonious about quality of life… this in all cases will work for everyone.
But when it comes to GAMEPLAY suggestions, these are nearly always very specific to their playstyle, and they nearly always have full and immense tunnel vision on and just assume that what they want is universal, right, and best for the game. They never check themselves on their preferences.
Another thing to keep in mind is… no lifers quit the season after 2 weeks. Their playstyle and gameplay preferences only result in this. I can’t help but suspect the majority of players are actually not nolife blasters, but in the case that im one of the 5 people still playing season 2 happy to be wrong. You never see anyone in volume in game so you can’t exactly tell.
i mostly agree with your post, but based on these people the d4 managed to sell all those copies, if not for them it would be a disaster at lonch, so yes they are the ones that promote the game and need to be respekted.
He meant a member of the press in terms of not being utterly worthless to the company in terms of potential financial value, which is what you are, despite being a member of the “free press”.
Despite opinions to the contrary, streamers and influencers as massively influential (who would have thought!) and thus financially relevant to company strategy. Any opinion to the contrary, however valid they might be (or not), are utterly irrelevant to reality.
Whilst i agree with the streamers portion of that comment, i take offense to the “99% of the player base” portion.
You wanna talk smack about the streamers, go right ahead…but 99% of the player base are people just like you and me (assuming you have a full time job/family/life/etc)
While i agree with the sentiment of your post, lumping your fellow players into that group isnt right.
In my opinion you are wrong. They are having the problems we will have eventually and since their job is to play and give their opinion, is a must to listen streamers.
No it isn’t new. Surveillance capitalism isn’t new, fascism isn’t new, there is a whole lot of things that aren’t new. But that does not mean they are good for the masses.
I think comparing press, media, and review copies of plays, movies, music, games, etc to the relevant parties is not remotely the same as the things you mentioned. It is part of marketing in pretty much any society and govt structure. Not intended to control people, do harm, or ruin lives. People can read a game review or not, buy a game or not. It is a hobby/entertainment, not access to food, housing, or basic resources.
I have no problem with people who play this game for their job having a look at and providing feedback on the games content and it’s future. For the most part these people do have good ideas and thoughts on the game and it’s direction.
Of course not. Just like radio stations, TV stations, movie theaters, concert halls, etc would not be in business if studios did not create the media they make money showing/playing/talking about/publishing articles about.
I am not sure that this is the scourge on society that you seem to think it is. I fail to be outraged by influencers and critics getting sneak peeks at thing. They can’t write about, or make videos about, things if they don’t know what they are. That serves the marketing purposes of the media maker. You don’t think town criers, poster makers, in Rome promoting the latest play were ignorant of the content do you? They were usually associates and had at least seen rehearsals.
Society won’t collapse because of standard entertainment practices.
Fair? Well, if someone wants to be treated to review copies, they can take the time and effort to become a well known reviewer or member of the press/influencer groups. They did not get picked out of the void just for no reason. They did have to work for that recognition and access.
This is true, and is evident in the new patch coming with the new sUpEr HaRd glyph you have to level.
I don’t want SUPER MEGA HARD INSTANT DEATH IF YOU DONT HAVE 100K ARMOR content. This is for the handful of 24/7 streamers, not me. The content may as well not exist for me.
I find lvl 80-90 nightmares an acceptable challenge, and level 100 doable but an unnecessary waste of my time. I’m that guy. I’ll quit and play something else if the only way to get the best stuff is gated behind garbage insta-death encounters like uber lilith and nm 100. Then the game isn’t made for me anymore, it’s made for people whose job it is to play the game.
So true. Most people who quote from either take one snippet and completely misinterpret what it says. I’m not even sure how “press” even got into this discussion as streamers are not members of the press.
I’m not sure where you’re heading with all this. I only stated facts. I guess you haven’t had to much dealing with humans. Any time a human can take advantage, they usually will, that’s why we need and have laws. I see a potential problem with it. The very name implies the the problem, influencers.
Hypothetically if i have a product, I can give it to my influencers, whom I made. A hyped up version of my product, it could be anything, car, pen, pencil and so on. Then they influence you to buy it. But your item isn’t quite the item they had. That used to be called bait and switch. Note the Hypothetical at the start of the paragraph.
I never said it was a scourge.
I never said I was outraged.
Neither will it collapse if it changes a little. The whole point was, the status quo, does not necessarily equate to right or fair. If it did things would still be like they were at the start of recorded history.
Copium. Streamers aren’t impartial 3rd parties doing a review. Streamers have a direct vested interest in particular features and mechanics making it live. Example being, Duriel runs being easy to monetize through “doing Duriel runs with my subscribers for free!” streams.
It’s not for streamers who play 24/7, it’s for those of us that have completed everything else the game has to offer and looking for more true endgame content.
Bingo! This is the result of the all the “THERE IS NO ENDGAME!!!” rants that littered this forum for months. Seems players these days want all games to be like MMOs where you rush to endgame for the “true” content.
