Sounds like most of the people in this topic need to stop speculating and read the god damn wiki.
Almost everyone here is talking out of their rear end.

i didnt have much complains aside from some plot holes and the terrible ending making me feel like ive got zero closure and need to wait for an xpack … and who knows how long itll take…
there are ways to open up a road to an xpack and still give some closure. this was a bit much.
when the credits rolled i was like “REALLY?! this is it? wth man…” instead of going “claps hands - nice!”
Then you missed the part where she was going to take Mephisto’s power and basically become a prime evil.
Mephisto wasn’t in a position to fight back, he was EGG.
No, i got that part, i just don’t see why that’s a bad thing or why it concerns me.
Oh my god…provide a SINGLE example of political ideology in the main campaign. I dare you. I double dare you. I honestly can’t wait to see what absolute nonsense you come up with.
Tyrael died of dysentery.
We should have teamed with Lilith and the end game should have been, “demon hunting.” With the help of a super powerful lesser evil, daughter of mephisto, we go throughout hell on the offensive for the first time in the series and hunt all primes and evils, placing totems that cause their regeneration to slow. Lilith would be a bad af mercenary.
This campaign was fun to play through once. Andriel was my favorite boss. Everything new just felt boring, unexciting, unoriginal. Lilith was ez, albeit she killed me once on hc with her “falling stage” isntadeath mechanic. The fetch quests don’t do too well when forced with cutscenes. The cutscenes should have all been action, gore, nudity, and fun. Instead we just got talking before placing a marker across town, and defeating forgettable bosses. Unimpressive compared to D2, and D3. Arguably a step up from D1… but cmon i would hope so.
Most characters are stronger than Andariel and Duriel.
Yup for sure.
I’m into act 2, scosglen, and
not that many of them either. they repeat so often its ludicrous lol
feels a bit like they ran out of time and recycled.
My issue with the story is the MANY comedic moments…
Standing outside a dungeon covered in blood with dead bodies lying around “Neyrelle makes jokes”
Literally in hell…in mephistos domain…constant witty funny comments from donan lorath and neyrelle…
Clown dies to a wall (Blizzards way of storytelling showing us hell is dangerous)
Then proceeds…TO LIE DOWN ON THE WALL HE DIED TO
If demon wall killed you, and you thought you killed it, you would rest on it?
Inarius is made out to look pathetic as compared to the books, sure hes been tortured for years but still…
Lilith never once disguised herself as human to decieve us (as far as i know)
They made a huge deal out of lilith just for us … a non nephalem to kill her so easily?
Andariel and duriel…not even dungeon bosses what a joke.
Mephisto as a wolf was cringe AF the way he appeared to us.
I will add, many of the side quests are actually sick and have many references to all games and diablo timeline!
Bonus: the right approach when you don’t know about something is launching a humble question, and not hammering with a negative post.
he did feel like a clown. like a badluck magnet. i found it fitting. only the poorest of experiences for this sad man D:
as for humor in hell… well you gotta cope somehow… id probably try and crack a couple jokes lol
I believe lilith is still alive as her echo spoke to me claiming we couldnt simply kill her.
Andariel is still corrupting Taissa’s mind and elias said “your fate was sealed the moment i carved the first rune”
So im hoping lilith still lives and andariel + duriel become actual nightmare dungeon bosses, same with astaroth…he insta respawned in hell
While I do like Mephisto in D4 (so far), you are absolutely correct on this. It’s very contradictory to how the characters act about Lilith.
Lilith MUST BE stopped! She’s ebil!!! But Mephisto, he’s a bro. I mean suuuuure he’s one of the Prime Evils and his daughter wants to destroy him and save Sanctuary, but he’s a chill dude.
The tunnel vision of stopping Lilith gets old fast, especially if you take even a few seconds to listen to what she says she wants. Save Sanctuary, end the Eternal Conflict, empower her children (largely to achieve the goal before this one), and destroy the Prime Evils. It’s never made clear what she intends beyond these stated goals. So Lilith actually comes across as a hero, albeit one who will do whatever is necessary to achieve the “good ending”. And the characters are written in a forced “she must be stopped!!!” way that makes them come across ignorant.
But then, the moment we’re in a spot of trouble that we just need to spend some time to consider our options, Mephisto pops up and says “I got you, bro. Nah, I don’t have any ulterior motive for helpin you. You can trust me, bro. I know I’m a Prime Evil and I want to see you and your world destroyed, but I got you!”. And we just immediately go “Thanks, broseff! Glad I can trust you!” I mean cmon… really?!
He’s one of the Prime Evils. Even though he’s not actually one of the enemies we fight in all the Diablo games, he’s still part of the world.
The Angels locked themselves in Heaven sometime between D1 and D2. Any angels we encounter were locked out when the Gate was shut or voluntarily left Heaven, unable to return until/unless the Gate is reopened. That’s why we see so few of them, and the ones we do see don’t feel very powerful.
Inarius is broken. His time in Mephisto’s realm of Hell shattered his mind. He’s selfish, arrogant, prideful, hateful. He has a god complex. Because he’s broken. Lilith alludes to this and some others question what happened to him during his time in Hell.
The idea was to prevent Lilith from absorbing Mephisto. But it was pointed out near the end that that wouldn’t stop her from doing that, she would just absorb his essence from the soulstone. It’s an incredibly dumb plan. But Neyelle Sue is written about as well as Rei, so…
Killing a demon doesn’t destroy them. They eventually come back. Always. They have to be destroyed to prevent their return. That’s why Lilith was so clear about saying she wants to destroy or absorb Mephisto. That’s the only way to eliminate them permanently. That’s why we see Andariel and Duriel and some others repeatedly throughout the history of Sanctuary. We can kill them, but they will always return.
Ultimately, we should have been given a choice of who to side with. Inarius, Mephisto, or Lilith. From what I’ve seen people saying, I think most people would have chosen to side with Lilith since her goals have the best interests of humanity in mind. Her methods aren’t always good, sometimes even downright evil, but her end goal is beneficial to Sanctuary.
And one thing I see a lot of people doing with Lilith is attributing what her followers say to her. Elias’s wants are not Lilith’s.
Nearly every single important npc is a female.
Welcome to moral relativism. There is no good nor bad. Deal with it.
There’s a lot of that in a lot of stuff these days but i don’t really see it with D4, even if you look for the usual progressive stuff you don’t see much, outside maybe the grotesque druid standing for body positivity.
I personally liked the story! After the events of d3 ROS, I think the world setting is very fitting for so many humans being wiped off the face of sanctuary. Im excited to see where d4 continues to go.
I see that we are minority about story dissatisfaction. But I agree.
I was not a big fan of Diablo 3 gameplay but story there was total cliffhanger.
All those cinematics inside, then Leah coming to Heavens. Duel against Imperius. Come on, that was cool.
And here? Lilith came to Sanctuary and she was running away through entire story and you was chasing her lol. So emotional. In addition - nothing interesting happened on the way. Andariel - again. Duriel - again. Ending - oh, we will fight Mephisto for sure - again. And since Diablo is free, I hope we will see him again.
And of course Sh*vision had to save money on their perfect cinematics because 90% of them were simply in-game engine cinematics, not movies like we saw in most previous Blizzards games. Sad
The last thing - I felt this in D3, I feel it now - my character is totally pointless in this game. You remember D1 → D2? Your hero from D1 was somebody, had a name. After that he became the Diablo. So you fought him in Diablo 2. Your hero meant something. And now? Who am I? I am just a random homeless farmer who picks some bow, staff, axe and fight.
