Stop playing diablo 4 and you will never brick an item.
If you are not at home and part of your house as a brick falls off and breaks a pot did you brick an item and does it make a sound???
Players today are soft as hell.
In my day if an item was “broken” that mean it you didn’t have it in your inventory anymore.
Today that means you got a 58% instead of a 60%.
Ya’ll weak.
I think this demands a top 10 back in my day…yup making it now…thx Veracity
Most players are not going to find a single GAIII with all of the Affixes they need in any given Season let alone one for all Item Slots and further, multiples of in order to combat Tempering RNG.
As I stated earlier and you conveniently omitted, to compensate for the change I said that Scrolls could be more scarce and the cost of subsequent Tempering could be increased similar to Enchanting.
How many hours do you play and how many characters in any given Season are you able to absolutely max out with all BiS items? Do you RMT and Trade? You can save your condescending childish tirade for your incel 4chan discord.
ROFL Says the person who just made a childish tirade?
Congrats on personally insulting me. You know you’ve lost an argument when you feel the need to insult.
Personally insulting you for calling out your disproportionate reaction? I quite clearly articulated my rationale and how you could offset some things by rebalancing costs and drop rates. You chose to completely disregard any of that and are clearly more interesting in trolling with your holier than thou attitude.
It wasn’t disproportionate. It was exactly what you stated. I quoted it. Anyone can click the Up Arrow in the quote to read exactly what I replied to.
I didn’t call you names. I stated quite factually that allowing unlimited re-tempers does indeed make the game easier.
The argument isn’t whether unlimited retempers makes it easier (it does), it’s SHOULD the game be easier?
And I clearly say it shouldn’t. D4 is easy enough already.
But what if elon musk has whatever item?!.. so unfair UwU
i can only agree with you. This whole crying about tempering and masterworking really needs to stop at some point. Lets be real, people factually dont know what they want here. If we removed tempering and would go back to a drop based situation - people would cry about not getting the right affixes that tempering offers.
i personally wouldnt mind that. i had no issues with the old drop system, but we know how people cried for a rework on loot, a removal of many afixes, etc.
Eventually people should accept at times that rng games sometimes can mean that you lose, and also, that not everyone with a keyboard is a game designer.
I enjoy the Tempering system, and greatly hope that even more Tempers come in.
I think I “bricked” all of 4 items this Season, where I literally missed both desired Tempers and got stuck with a 3/5. I know for sure one was my own fault, because I wanted a higher affix range.
Most of my gear is 2xGA, with a few 3xGA. No 4xGA Mythics though. S7 is supposed to make Ancestrals easier. So I think Tempering won’t really be an issue. People will rage when it misses, but that’s part of how D4 works.
If the community as a majority wants tempering and masterworking changes then thats what Bliz should do. That is how we got the scroll to come into being and the scroll helped tons with stopping bricking but some more simple and easy changes would solve the rest of the issues like being able to keep previous temper picks lining it up consistently with enchanter and with masterworking an average system that lets you pick your crits but the cost is much much higher than the RNG crit system. So you can keep playing your luck on masterwork RNG system or just save up 60k obdulcite or whatever the average is to hit three crits that you choose. EVeryone wins.
i think im on a similar ratio.
not aure if id have voted for that, but what it leads to is aspects being easier to get, and that i can agree on, wasnt really nice in s6 lol
there isnt a community, let alone a majority in the assumed community.
people consisting of people who think they are game designers, trolls, salty people, karens, people that just play, casuals, etc etc.
im happy that 99% of the changes that people suggest here dont make it into d4. (eventually exxagarated). Sadly blizzard carters to such situations at times. im still thinking about s3 there where people went mad because traps are mean to them while doing vaults.
i think theres a major difference between suggesting things, or pitching ideas, and wanting to rework a game to ones personal imagination.
Combat should be more challenging. Itemization needs to be streamlined. I think GAs were an awful introduction and Tempering and Masterworking were and are implemented poorly.
You have Enchanting with a chance to fail and produce a random result (Tempering) and Upgrading/Honing that randomly improves 1 of 5 Affixes (Legendaries). You have to restart the entire upgrade process and reset an item just to reroll the Critical Hits.
Diablo 4s Itemization needs a healthy balance between deterministic and RNG. Base Items should be where RNG exists. Get rid of GAs and go back to Ranges. Tempering should be deterministic. Masterworking in my opinion is ok in theory in that it is good to be able to upgrade Affixes via grinding. The added component of Critical Successes 3/3 however is dumb.
I personally thought they did the overhaul with Aspects bugged. I can’t see any reason why they allowed tier top loot (Ancestral/GA that literally give max affixes) to roll bottom rolled Aspects. Makes absolutely zero reason, like multiplying 40%(x) times 1000% to mean 1040%.
At least that’s mess is gone for S7.
might be really. i mean, it wouldnt surprise me for sure.
oh it clearly did. im not so certain if its for the better of the game tho. as expected, people are overexaggerating. telling stories of breaking every single item they get, etc etc. I know, and you know, that isnt the case. As i said, theres a fine line between suggestions, and wanting a game reworked.
That is a dark view that I dont agree with. We have many good ideas pitched here. Its not the forums lacking in good ideas its Bliz lacking in freedom to use the ideas or even comment on them. Dont even think a Blue has posted in a year.
Blizzard was smart to make traps meaningless because it doesnt fit this game. This is a fast paced game not a slow to a crawl and memorize the trap pattern game. ITs a type mismatch and was never going to work. Take some of the biggest hate vs POE as another example of this as the lab was one of the most hated game play and its full of traps. Traps and ARPGs dont mix and they seen this in the numbers I bet because it was changes within 2 days as I recall and we told them it was never going to work.
99% of the changes should be avoided not because there are that many that are bad but because you dont have the resources to even implement them. You have to take the best of the best to even attempt to work on but I dont think they have even done that really. Bliz devs are being held back by managers. There was a article about it in pc gamer I believe that said there is a crisis in AAA Gaming with regards to management.
It makes business sense to do what a majority of your playerbase wants even if that base is wrong. This is how the world works. This is one of the reasons food and soft drinks has dyes and red 3 was just banned. IT servers no other purpose than consumer want.
I’m just going to put it out there.
Your opinion is wrong.
It is objectively wrong.
There is nothing right about your opinion.
First, you have actual Enchanting, so no misnaming is necessary, but second you have tempering which gives you a very local simple limited series of outcomes that are extremely driven by player agency that actually does not have a chance to fail, it just has a chance to not give your little bun-bun what you want, and lastly masterworking improves ALL affixes by a minimum of 45%. Why do you guys keep pretending that isn’t true?
pez did post. not recently, as in THIS year, but he did ^^
disagree. traps are a diablo thing. heck, even the d2 assassin had builds for traps.
i mean, long story short. Discussions are nice, but this whole: “blizzard needs to change this!!!” dramatrain is ridiculous. I personally of course also have things i enjoy more, and some things i enjoy less in d4. However, i for sure dont feel entitled to dictate what a game company has to do.
You dont either, no offense btw, but you called poe2 a d4 killer. So far i didnt see game changing input there from you (of course i assume you are using the same name, which can be wrong).
I think you get me bud. ^^
It used to be “respec costs” complaints, and Scroll of Amnesia was put in. I don’t think many actually used it (my opinion), and S7 actually removed it. Check the notes!
So Combat should not be more challenging? Itemization should be bloated with needless Affixes? Greater Affixes which are 1.5x better than the Maximum Affix roll and become the only chase item was a GOOD idea? Tempering which can render an item useless is a good idea? Masterworking which is nothing more than the old Upgrade system tuned up and spread out over 12 levels is a good idea? Having to completely reset the item just to reroll those 3 Critical Hits is a good idea because why?
My point about Tempering is that it is the conventional Enchanting system but with RNG, a chance of failure, and limiting the amount of times it can be done. What they call the Enchanting system is not really it. Blizzard just messed with the nomenclature, messed it up a bit and tried to repackage it as something new.
How am I pretending anything about MW? The system is exactly the same as the previous Upgrade system but strung out over 12 levels with 3 of those benchmark levels having a massive boost to a single Affix. The problem with it is having to start all the way over just to reset the Critical Hits. It is not linear and makes zero sense. A better solution is to have the Critical Hits a completely separate system. You upgrade 12/12 in a linear fashion once.
The Critical Hits should be a more fufilling, challenging, and time consuming method. Having them just be a benchmark event part of upgrading is lame. It is the same problem Blizzard originally identified that as soon as you find an upgrade, you just keep spamming the Blacksmith until it gives you what you want. For more dedicated players and RMTers, this is negligible and you WILL get what you want quickly. For average players, you end up going backwards and LOSING power until you can gain it back or have an item sit in your inventory until it can be 3/3.
