Stop making us remake heroes to play seasonal. Create a Seasonal Hub Instead!

It’s stupid actually. They ape all the bad aspects of MMORPG design but leave out the only smart thing MMOs do which is let you use your character for all new seasonal content. They refuse to do that and stick to the antiquated “roll a new character every season” design from Diablo 2.

Of course the reason is obvious, because Blizzard philosophy is to make you waste time in the game doing the same crap over and over, like walking.
So dumb.

This is not a sprint or a race. It’s the journey. The journey of wasting time playing a video game.

No, it’s not. If you played MMORPGs they let you use same character every new season.

Don’t you keep your same character in Immortal and still play that character through the season passes? I mean lets face it, in D4 if it weren’t for the leveling…character, paragons, glyphs…honestly what would you even have to do that wouldn’t take a few days to a week? It would be nice to somehow keep your uber uniques tho…be able to use them on your new characters each season. Well it would be nice for those who don’t have the time to farm them over and over each season. A lot of players will never even see an uber unique much less loot several each season. Honestly tho, I would still play quite a bit if we kept our characters and just played the new content each season. We would still get all the new stuff and the builds and gearing that worked for the previous season may not work for the new one, so we would still have to farm and play with different builds. I will admit re-leveling and grinding glyphs each season does get old. We have to get through all that before we can really play with our builds and have fun. And honestly, the new quest line BS each season can all be finished in just a few hours anyway. There’s never enough content to keep it going for days or weeks. Only real thing that matters is what new powers or abilities we get and how to incorporate them into our new builds…but they never really shine until we level up anyway. They could also keep it the way it is and just raise the xp gain for character and glyphs even more than what they have. I mean it still takes forever to level glyphs and it’s nowhere near proportionate to our character leveling now due to the fast xp from running blood harvests

No. In Diablo 3 you could get to max level in a few hours every new season.

In Diablo 4 it takes significantly longer.

You can’t play seasonal content in Eternal, duh.

Seriously? Do you not remember Diablo 3 in the early days? It was longer. But i guess you are fine with being max level in a few hours and handed a free 6 piece set to steam roll torment 13 and be paragon 800 in a couple of hours.

I guess you must like running GR’s all day.

Good thing this is an ARPG then and those rules don’t apply.

This defeats the entire purpose of the game.

So I log into my hota barb, I gonk a few times (cuz one hit and they are gone) and well, that’s it for the season. 10/10 games done see you in 3 months?

Diablo has been this way far longer than it hasn’t, if you don’t want to play Diablo then that’s okay, there’s nothing wrong with that. But understand that you don’t want to play Diablo.

Imagine if they actually listened. Your next post. Hour 1 of the new patch would be “THERES NOTHING TO DO IN TJIS GAME.ITS DEAD AND DUM AND THERES NO ENDGAME AND NO POINT!”

Everyone power levels in a weekend to 100 and say the same thing… what’s you point? You may a well keep the character through the seasons. Or make the season available on the eternal realm.

Everyone? I sure do see alot of non level 100 players in the game on WT4…

I mean you do they just get turned into Eternal  I know what you mean, you want season 2 to carry over to season 3.

Gamers this generation want everyone just handed to them on a silver platter with out putting any time or effort in to the game.

What next? Want battle pass to be free and start at 80?

this is such a bad take and a pointless comparison.

  1. mmos dont have “seasons”. they have new content patches, and then major expansions. and when you jump into those new content patches, you still progress. sure it might not be character level but it is equipment level. how would blizzard accomplish something similar in d4? increasing the item power level and making you farm endless hours AGAIN for NEW max power equipment? thats a hard pass for me bro. it works in MMOs because gear has set stats. not random like d4. it wouldnt work for this game at all.
  2. as far as new major patches go, you DONT jump right in. you once again… need to progress. usually a level cap increase and then more gear farming. you want d4 to increase its level cap every season? by the time the first expansion rolls around we will all be level 200. And again, forcing players to endless grind for more gear in d4 is tedious AT BEST for the same reasons mentioned earlier. the sheer randomness and affix bloat. once more for those in the back, this wouldnt work for D4.
  3. d4 is not an mmo. stop comparing it to one.
  4. see point 3. i really need people to read point 3. over and over and over and over again.
  5. POINT NUMBER THREE. GET IT IN YOUR HEAD.

You actually don’t know what I mean, because that is not what I said.

I mean–When season X starts. Allow players to play the season on the eternal realm together with their old characters. OR start a new character on the “Season Realm”. When the season is over, the new season characters drop down to the Eternal realm and can play the next season on Eternal with the rest of the Old characters from previous seasons.

ya no. eternal realm is base diablo 4. if you want to experience the seasonal mechanics, you play seasonal. this isnt complicated. i mean why are so many people having a hard time with this?

I definitely understand not wanting to relevel a new character every season. But that’s what the eternal realm is for. It’s fine to not like the concept of seasons, but the answer is to not play seasons, not expect seasons to be redefined to your liking.

The fact things are temporary on season realm is how they can get away with experimenting with really powerful stuff. It’s part of the draw.

I certainly think there could be some changes (fast leveling on season, rebirth option) to make seasons more appealing but ultimately most of the complains I see from people about season leveling just make it sound like season gameplay is not their jam so they should stick to eternal.

Uber uniques could be held in store , and when you reached 100 you could use them in seasonal , after all you earnt them.

Well, first of all, its not constantly, it is every 3 months if you so choose.
If you don’t like seasons, you don’t have to play them.

Lastly, yes, I do see the point. I like leveling a character from scratch. But again, if you don’t, stop playing seasonal.

How?

The “season journey”, taken by itself, is not more than a couple of hours of content. That’s it. It’s an overlay on the existing game, not a content patch drop in an MMO.

Honestly the problem here is that people want this to function like an MMO with periodic content drops that are made to have enough content to grind for a month or more thanks to resetting the gear levels and so on, so everyone needs to regrind gear to keep up. That isn’t how an ARPG works, the seasons are not periodic content drops and gear resets, they are simply restarts with a seasonal overlay. D4 has MMO elements, yes, but it’s not designed to have content delivery like WoW, because it just doesn’t have that kind of system where each patch your gear needs to be upgraded.

Too bad so sad. If people want to play seasonal content, they have to play by the seasonal rules.

Gotcha… So what you basically want is the ability to play seasonal mechanics with your eternal characters.

I think many people can’t understand the concept and that is okay. They have explained the reasoning why its not in the eternal realms for seasonal mechanics. They did state if it fits the base game as a whole they would consider making it permanent to the eternal part of the game.

What a headache it would be to have to rip it out of eternal every 3 months? With the Seasonal “server” they can just migrate the characters and items over to eternal. Apply new season to those set of “servers”. You aren’t ripping out additional code on eternal.
