I wanted to try out season 4, but it has become clear this game is utter garbage. It’s been two weeks and it’s still crashing on character selection screen. Ryzen 3600, RTX 3070, latest NVIDIA driver. Game worked fine on launch.
Roll back to an older Nvidia driver too many issues posted with the latest one and use DDU to do a fresh install.
Read the complaints here on their forum:

What x7ekken said should do the trick.
If there are still issues, you could try to “scan and repair” D4 from the battle net app by clicking the gear icon, where you would click play on D4 tab.
Unless you are on Steam, which you can “verify integrity of game files” in Steam client, right-click Diablo IV>Properties>Installed Files>Verify integrity of game files
Some mates can confirmed if it’s working?

Okay! Spent 15 minutes to rollback with DDU and install previous drivers. That stopped the crash. Now it just hangs “Start Game Pending” instead.
EDIT: And hurray, some 5 minutes later, the game actually started! I guess the servers are overloaded. But it runs at least.
Thanks for the help!
That’s good to hear. I’ve seen a few people saying the January versions of the drivers are working the best for them so that’s something to keep in mind.
I personally use a driver from October with zero issues on a 3080.
