Finally got around to creating this bug report, but I’m unsure if anyone else has experienced this. I didn’t quite see anything on the forums, but I’ve seen similar stories in other forums like on Reddit.
Sometime after the LoH update, the performance has seriously tanked for the Steam Deck. I recall playing some of the campaign on the Deck, and it ran just fine. Then a few updates in and now the frame rate is extremely choppy and all over the place and doing anything in any part of the map causes the frame rate to almost always dip well below the 30s. The Skovos areas was always a bit heavy for the Steam Deck to run but it was manageable. Now performance is worse than before in the Skovos area, and it’s bad all along the world map not just Skovos.
It used to be that you could get your FPS within the range of 30 - 60FPS depending on the battery life you were aiming for and the frame rate and pacing was extremely smooth but now even getting 30 is extremely rough even with the handheld optimized settings
I’ve tried different versions of Proton including Hotfix and Experimental along with Proton-GE and CachyOS Proton and performance is abysmal in all of them.
Game works great on full on desktop Linux though, I’ve had no issues running it on Fedora 44 so it’s not necessarily a Linux issue and more so something was introduced with a later update after LoH that is causing the Steam Deck to just really tank in performance.
