Not only does the Starfall Coronet require a lot of farming to get the first time around, but unless you roll a 6 second CD, the build is completely useless. Why is the window that large for the only unique that interacts with meteor? I think the enhanced meteor and meteor enhancement changes are good with the helm, but the charges are lacking. I would honestly be happier with only the enhancements buffed on that helm and maybe a meteor mana cost reduction. Tal Rasha is the only Wizard build I loved in D3. Anything Meteor feels bad. Anything Sorc feels bad.
6 second + min-maxing makes Meteor usable compared to base meteor. Andeven somewhat viable, not least because of squeezing as much cdr as possible + ice blades allow you to go after flame shield (and even then not really enough); and even beautiful (although, not only it gets hard to see sh1 - yourself, your cursor, enemies and enemy AOES, but my eyes legit hurt after farming pits for a few days)

But ultimately for all of the effort it takes (e.g. literally had 18 levels of meteor rn and so much blood and sweat spilt over cdr), it’s just depressing and disenchanting…
Well i dont think its meant to be used to spam meteors but to boost the meteor enchant, sure like the poster above said, with conjuration you can get the cd pretty low, but i ran a shock sorc for a while with that helm as enchant and the sheer amount of meteor it triggered was great with the crazy RNG of chain lighting, the weird thing is that i tried it with my fire sorc but the trigger rate was much lower.
And putting points of shock build onto meteors didnt feel cost effective, but i did put the aspect that added tiny meteors and the aoe was better than a good sized storm. Still with no fire dmg boost its all just pretty vfx.
Meteor enchant itself only drops 2 tiny meteors which doesn’t justify it as enchant in most cases.
Still, kinda seems they intended you to have meteor on your bar as a secondary, no even tertiary actiod and to press the meteor button once in 6-12 seconds and maybe be used as enchant, but that’d mean they never intended to make Meteor playable by itself.
You really need that perfect 6 roll. I have a 7 roll and it’s not enough.
To make a meteor build viable, they really need to buff the base damage of Meteor big time, then make Starfall Coronet give the full 4 meteors for the Enchant and the Enhanced Meteor, and they need to increase the proc chance of the Meteor Enchantment.
That would actually make Meteor a usable skill.
As it stands nobody is going to run Starfall Coronet over a Shako.
I actually tried procing Meteors with the Enchantment on a Conjuration build, but it wouldn’t proc enough. So Chain Lightning does the trick? I’ll try to build around that then and see how it goes. Basically a fire-based or Mastery-based build that just uses Chain Lightning to proc Meteor showers.
From what others told me Blizzard jacked this build up in Season 3, they took away what the Firewall/Meteor Sorc could do. And it’s been that way since.
The problem with Meteor/Starfall is you have to work around the cooldown gimmick to make it servicable (but still behind Ice Spikes), otherwise it makes Meteor completely unusable. This is Damage on Tuesdays on a full moon.
Meanwhile stuff like Frozen Orbit and Gravitational aspects just straight up give massive damage bonuses to the spells they affect.
Meanwhile Ice Spikes get a special paragon board and temper affixes for it while Meteorites gets nothing.
