just feal like the skill charged bolt was only good in Diablo 1 and never went anywhere on any of the other games. yet it is still around
the biggest concern is “bolt speed” would be good if it was as fast as fireball speed
2nd is melee range (just like D1 was) is the only way to dish damage, yet the unique staff doesnt help you out any there as “it makes bolts chase mobs”
the nova from crackling lighting unique is also a bust as the nova is to small

Doesn’t work for me or play nice either, it’s awkward.
It’s firmly in the this fun to level with and some early NM but past that mehh.

I haven’t played the Staff any, but use the CE on a CL build and yes the nova is too small and i hate to have to move around to pick up CE constantly. This should be made a buff instead of having to move to pick it up.

I’m working on it. I forwarded the change of making “Esodora’s” change 15% chance of a lightning nova to a simple 100% cast of a charged bolt on crackling energy pickup.
Which would of course work with Lam Esem.
I started using the staff and tried charged bolt.
Masterworking the staff puts you over 100% chance to double cast so I don’t know exactly how that works… Will it “Triple cast at some point?”.
Either way with the staff and the legendary affix for piercing, things blow up rather quickly. It’s not hard to “Position” enemies in this game either. I also realized that the bolts will go through enemies and sometime COME back so you can have bolts that lock on to bosses and you see some pretty crazy things. Numbers are not big but there are times I will see like 50 cracks at once for 300-400k and I’m not even level 100 with leveled glyphs and far from masterworking the gear.
