SSF Mode Ruined

Completely agree. They won’t, we all know they won’t, and we knew it before they even launched the leaderboards.

They should have spent their time making fishing worthwhile instead. Or anything else.

I would suggest that Tower 100+ have static archetypes that all have the same skills, equipment and paragon selections. Everyone uses the same rogue, barb, etc. Let player skill determine rankings instead of luck with drops or cheating.

SSF was never going to solve exploits on leaderboards.

If we’re honest lack of SSF was always just an excuse people used for not getting on the leaderboards anyway. I knew as soon as we got SSF there would be new excuses. They can solve the exploits but new excuses will always come.

Ha, I am surprised we don’t have any threads about SSF complaining that X person has more hours to play and its unfair.

There was one person saying that recently. There is truth to it. The more time you have the better you will do. But that’s true for anything. But fairness has no part in it.

Exactly. The nice thing about good arpgs is you can be an underdog and win at RNG at times.

However D4 ain’t an arpg anymore.

But anyone who invests 100s of hours should be in a better state then the ultra casual who plays 2 hours a week.

It’s always the rational thing to point out bugs & exploits - it’s an unpaid service to the poor devs who are struggling to understand their engine at a fundamental level & who suck at communicating.

One or both of those things can & probably does catch the interest of the Blizzard president’s PR interns… for the simple reason that when the bugs/exploits (& the studio’s lack of skill at addressing them, even verbally) become comical, the legacy press picks up on it, for clicks. Legacy press is something the president’s PR team cares about from time to time.

We’re not going to know each instance, but when specific problems reach crescendo, it lands on the president’s desk. She taps her fingers, and makes a mental note. Then when she meets with Brent 4 times a year, in 1-2 of those meetings she asks about bugs, and he very sweatily stammers assurances or asks for resources (IMO that’s how the new systems lead was hired - and might be how Rod was… let go).

The ‘joke’ would be to stop complaining. You know how Brent told Rhykker about a year ago, that the team was encouraged by how MUCH people were running IH? Yeah, there’s only one way to counter that lazy nonsense.

Pointing out how stale the industry is, isn’t psychoanalyzing the complainers - it’s mainly stating where you are, spiritually. And one of those activities is more useful than the other. :face_with_tongue:

Freedom of speak mfs, let the man complain

…only if you weren’t a streamer.

Remember “brother Chris”? If not - Google it. A streamer played for 23.9hr/day, every day then blamed his “brother Chris” playing on his account.

Despite account-sharing also being against ToS Blizzard issued a ban only to rescind it a few days later. Streamer privilege!

Fixing bugs is their mandate so that’s one thing but how do you prove exploitation?

I’m not saying that there’s not a point of reasonableness but nailing that down is very hard. A person who is just bad at the game but using exploits getting to 135 and beating someone is good at the game with no exploits at 132 looks legit.

Look at the profile of the player who has done the 150 on the rogue HC SSF ladder.

He’s literally trolling everyone.

It is really not hard to see that these people know exactly what they’re doing

This has nothing to do with SSF. This is ruining The Tower in all versions of the game. SSF is still doing it’s job to counter pay to win.

To be honest wid joo Diane, I’m suh-prised.

Lol.

They actually do! It’s very weird and sad.

They’ve done official announcements of exploits for other games, especially gold exploits in WoW. Anyone who uses an exploit after the announcement is breaking the EULA. One round of 24h bans is all it would take to get everyone’s attention, especially if they do it to a streamer. Heck, they could probably find streamers like Raxx who would be complicit.

They probably just don’t have the manpower. The database queries to find players in the top 1000 with bugged builds after a certain timestamp are trivial.

You act like Blizzard doesn’t know dude.

You think they read the forums today (they don’t I’m sure) and were shocked someone mentioned cheating on the leaderboards?

I doubt that very much.

Why does it matter if they know? It’s possible they don’t. No reason to get your little panties in a bunch over someone mentioning it.

Cheater boards are going to be cheater boards with or without SSF. Ignore them like the rest of us.

This is true, however the non-SSF leaderboards could never been taken seriously because of the PTW aspect. A lot of us were hoping for some genuine leaderboards with the release of SSF

Your sentiment here, similar to others on this thread, is that we should just accept cheaters being on the leaderboard.

I don’t agree. I believe Blizzard have it in their power to respond quicker to exploiters and disincentivise them by handing out penalties - should they choose to.

Drawing attention to this was the intent of my original post.
